Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has been selected through a competitive process for SMART City Mission initiative of Government of India. In the next phase, Coimbatore city has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities which will be taken up for the first round of funding, for the financial year 2015-16.

Citizens and stakeholders of Coimbatore are requested to post their views and suggestions on how to make Coimbatore a Smart one. The citizens may organize their thoughts on the following topics

1. What should be the Vision of the Coimbatore
2. Strengths, areas of improvement & solutions across the following sectors

a. City Spatial Structure, Transportation and Green Spaces
b. Energy, Water, Waste Water and Environment
c. Housing, Health, Education, Security, Law and Order
d. Citizen Engagement, Smart Solutions and IT-led service delivery

Airports needs to be developed and should also be focused on bringing in as a hub for air travel which can attract more tourists and business. Tourist development, modernized transport and traffic has be developed hand in hand to manage. More focus could be given on Digitalization of services.

Traffic signals should be set up where ever required. Both State and Central government must invest on Metro rail for Coimbatore, many cities smaller than Coimbatore are getting Metro system in other states.

We need to start with the basics. (a) Traffic congestion and bridges in key places (b) selection of some places and making them example green locations - race course, GV residency are some good examples and more can be done (c) Ability to pay all bills online - today even if websites are available, they dont work seamless (d) world-class schools, IIT and IIM (e) Focus to build coimbatore as a manufacturing hub..

Coimbatore has several large lakes. A feasibility study can be carried out if these lakes can be connected via wider canal and water taxis can be introduced on these lake to ease up Traffic conjection.

All government offices inside the city should be shifted outside the city.A big meeting hall should be developed by the government somewhere near kala patti and to be rented to political party so that they can have their party meetings,conference outside coimbatore city and not disturbing the citizen n our traffic.and all public meetings in the city should be banned.

For traffic problems government should encourage the citizens to use battery operated cycle for our own health and cities green health.The cars with odd and even numbers should be used on respective odd and even dates.The car should be used by a family if min three persons travel in it.if two persons they are compulsorily supposed to use 2 wheeler and if single person it should be a cycle(batter)to save fuel n ur economy.separate lanes for bicycles and two wheelers,car ,bus &lorry on all main rd

For farmers water and electricity should be provide 24 X 7 and setup trade facility center near mathambatti or thondamuthur,or agricultural university.for textile n automobiles a trade facilties centre should be set up near peelamedu or trichy road near sulur.

If necessary a metro route can be developed from madukarai,sundarapuram,ukkadam ,railwaystation as well.The country is said to be developed if the citizen use the public transport eg.singapore.coimbatore s famous for motors ,pumps,automobile,textile.manufacturing.so respective trade centres should be built in the areas of interest to enhance foreign investors,eg,trade centre for pumps n motors can be built in around areas of kovundampalayam.

The city should be equipped with new ponds n storage resorvoirs near it's outskirts.consider the channel from kanuvai.there should be green parks in and around coimbatore.The city central jail should be shifted outside the city and that area to be turned out to be a big national park or zoo.The four suggested metro routes to initiate the people to use public transport are from mettupalayam to gandhipuram,annur to gandhipuram,ondipudur to gandhipuram,airport to gandhipuram.

Coimbatore is a clean green city where as in the process of developing the infrastructure the green trees should not be cut down.the cleanliness should be maintained by all big mall, companies ,government organisations,corporation by sewage treatment plant and recycling of water .very home should be installed with a rain water harvest plan.The beauty of coimbatore is its green n climate the green can be maintained by dredging the water channels Eg.noyyal river and sangam ur channel from kanuvai
