Roads and Transport - 1
1. Provide fully usable lanes of correct measurements.
2. Provide alternate routes to decongest main roads.
3. Provide footpath only for pedestrian use. Footpaths shall be clear of shop keeping vendors, hawkers and other obstacles like telephone boxes, electrical boxes, and open cables. Footpath shall be 2 meters minimum.
4. Clearly marked parking areas shall be provided for all types of vehicles. Parking shall not intrude with driving lanes and footpaths.
As roads get worn out and are full of potholes within a year, the new roads must be laid of plastic i.e.,PLASTIC ROADS through which the road life substantially increases. Steps must be taken to improve the conditions of the ukkadam lake, which is mostly surrounded by waste. 'Traffic signals AND STREET LIGHTS' can be designed in such a way that it could be run by SOLAR ENERGY which will lead to its proper functioning. LED'S though a bit costly but saves upto 80% electricity should be encouraged.
Bharathi Park is one of the areas where the citizens' pleas for not installing Storm Water Drains (SWDs) is going unheard. In the name of development, the rampant digging done 2 years ago for SWDs is an eye sore for our city now.Lots of trees are cut to build this canal which is filled now with filth, garbage, plastics and used water from homes. The fear of dengue from mosquito bites has reached its peak.SWDs are not needed in a city where it rains hardly for 25 days.Instead,RWH should be installed.
Buses should have the routes put up in English & Tamil, as many people come from other cities should be able to read the routes.
At every bus stop the bus numbers should be put up.
In each residential area the street numbers, cross roads, street road name, display boards should be put up at the beginning & end of the streets, to ensure people don't have difficulty in finding the roads.
Road maps should be put up in each locality.
Rain water harvesting pits should be constructed at Raja Annamalai Road junction (point starting from Bharathi Park Main Road) as lot of rain water stagnates during the monsoons.
Beggars shouldn't be allowed begging at signal junctions, which is very dangerous.
People shouldn't be allowed to sell items at signal junctions.
Traffic jams from Kikani signal to avinashi road flyover via syrian church should be eased.
Basic necessities such as good roads, closed storm water drains, footpaths should be provided.
Traffic jams should be eased with proper traffic control.
The storm water drains laid in the city in residential areas should be covered with slabs, if left uncovered it leads to many diseases.
Roads in Saibaba Colony, R.S.Puram, Ramnagar are in pathetic condition they should be laid.
At signal junctions lane system should be followed, there by preventing traffic jams.
If signals aren't working traffic police should control the traffic.
Timers should be established at every signal & ensure proper functioning.
Signals should be maintained regularly
Please alter the bus stand locations, as most of the bus stands are located either before or after the signal junction, thereby causing lot of traffic jam.
The buses stop in the middle of the roads away from the bus stands, causing public to get down in the middle of the road, there by causing inconvenience to two wheelers & four wheelers. Please ensure buses stop in their correct lanes.
Roads should be laid, the whole city is in bad condition with poor roads & potholes.
