I like to recommend to have proper road in coimbatore, apart from avinashi road i wont find much proper road with signals management. Near sarvanampatti huge trafic araise due to improper trafic management, Roads are very dusty . No rain water harvesting system, all rain water comes to road. I feel very bad to say coimbatore is very week in trafic management and sanity management and Roads , i feel these all should be taken care before other things are implemented.

Coimbatore have had potential to be a metro for at least 2 decades now. It has been ignored by State & Central government despite being 2nd biggest revenue generator in Tamilnadu. Coimbatore needs the following:
1.) Metro rail - Mass transport is need of the hour.
2.) Inner ring road & Outer ring road
3.) Fly overs to control traffic
4.) ROB within city limits
5.) International airport
6.) World class railways
7.) Slum clearance & encroachment removal
8.) Cricket & sports stadium

Coimbatore - A smart city. I would say that "Traffic reduction" has to be implemented in Coimbatore which is considered as a first and foremost thing that Government should take necessary action on the same. There are certain ways to control the traffic and accidents using
1. Creating new routes
2. Adding more lanes or by removing local obstacles
3. Intelligent transportation system
4. Traffic signals sensor
5. Speed limit sensor which avoids accidents

First and foremost should be the work of EB. The electricity board should immediately start planning and executing the work of shifting all overhead cables to underground. The dirty unorganised overhead cables give us a sick look. Building bridges and roads should be carried out only after EB completes their work.

All natural water channels in the city is currently running as a ditch. This is disgusting. Needs to fixed.
Pedestrian walking does not exist, there is not such concept and clear implementation. This is a must.
Green cover and well maintained large size parks to be created.
The new areas that are developing needs to be designed well with privacy for homes, well connected and broad roads, strict zoning, parks, pedestrian walk, etc. We need to engage international firms for the design.

Any development project should ensure that there is adequate space for greenery. A smart city should have parks that are clean and green where people can take a stroll. All the open drains should be closed. We need better roads. Though the roads in the outskirts are good, travelling within the city is turning out to be a nightmare because most roads are dug up.

The city still has open drainage systems in many areas and this causes health issues. Garbage disposal is another great challenge for Coimbatore to become a smart city. There is no proper system for disposal and the garbage collected is dumped in the forests. The core issues are water, sanitation and waste management.
