Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has been selected through a competitive process for SMART City Mission initiative of Government of India. In the next phase, Coimbatore city has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities which will be taken up for the first round of funding, for the financial year 2015-16.

Citizens and stakeholders of Coimbatore are requested to post their views and suggestions on how to make Coimbatore a Smart one. The citizens may organize their thoughts on the following topics

1. What should be the Vision of the Coimbatore
2. Strengths, areas of improvement & solutions across the following sectors

a. City Spatial Structure, Transportation and Green Spaces
b. Energy, Water, Waste Water and Environment
c. Housing, Health, Education, Security, Law and Order
d. Citizen Engagement, Smart Solutions and IT-led service delivery

1)Town buses which is the main commutation of the peoples in Coimbatore must be checked for the betterment of peoples 2)Extra town buses should be made available during peak hours

First thanking Prime Minister Modi Ji for making this project and selecting my City Coimbatore. Coimbatore deserves this recognition and hope this project will brings proper ring roads, flyovers and planned bust stand outside city limits, more train connectivity, development of International Airport with more international routes and also Metro connectivity.

METRO SHOULD BE PLANNED NOW ITSELF OTHER TRAFFIC PROBLEM WILL TAKE THE CHARM OF THE CITY. PERHAPS IT IS THE ONLY METRO WHICH IS YET TO PLAN FOR METRO. ALSO TWO LANE RING ROADS FOR CITY IS REQUIRED. POWERFUL LED LIGHTS ARE REQUIRED THROUGHOUT THE CITY.

7.A lot of parks and other places for communal gatherings should be located. 8.Multilevel parking system should be introduced. 9.The Nehru stadium should be improved to world class standards in order to encourage the sporting activities. 10.Cricket stadium should be constructed. 11.Few other railway stations should be improved,in order to deal with the increasing population. 12.All the public belongings like Stations and terminals should be kept clean and maintained periodically.

6) Why dont we make the city biker friendly? Coimbatore climate is a boon to bikers. Going to office on Bikes should become a trend. Which has lot it health benefits to the rider and less pollution to the city. Win-Win situation. Can we do it please dear sir whoever reads this?? :) 7) Cultural centers (like kalaiarangam are outdated and cannot house a lot of people). We need big arenas and facilities to host world class concert/performances. A lit bit outside of city may be #SmartCoimbatore

My city, my vision. 1. Hi-tech parking facilities at all over the city. 2. Plastic cover/carrybag (in any form) usage must be banned. 3. Tharough periodic Maintenance of lake, river and their water flow roots. 4. Generate new Policies for instal Cell phone towers in and around Coimbatore. 5. 24hour's fully functional government hospital facilities. 6. Waste water management. 7. Instal concrete ceter median for Each and every roads in and around the city to avoid the accident.

1.The drainage facilities should be improved a lot. 2.Well defined traffic plans to reduce traffic should be planed. 3.Subways should be laid for the walkers in various places like bus terminals and school zones. 4.Electric cables should be laid under ground. 5.The number of public transports should be increased, as well as their quality should be taken care periodically. 6.A lot of care should be taken care of protecting the cities environmental wealth as it has lot of lakes around it.

3) Metro system should be planned now itself before city becomes any bigger. The layout/land should be decided now itself. Implementation in phases. 4) Clean drinking Water is an issue in many issues. Efforts should be taken to make the lakes bigger etc to give this basic need to all the Coimbatoreans. 5) Cleanliness of the city should go up. Usually the city residents are not in a so fast life like a metropolitan like Chennai. They will listen to cleanliness initiatives. #SmartCoimbatore

1) Coimbatore is known for its world class textiles. However the marketing is not enough to make it a big brand. Steps should be taken to make a big brand. 2) City should have international airport. Steps should be taken to make this a reality as soon as possible. The IT park in the city is not used well because of the lack of international airport. #SmartCoimbatore

Coimbatore smarter city ...continuation 4)Permanent underground covered trench to be made for laying underground cables. Roads need not be dug. 5) Spitting / Smoking to be strictly avoided in public places 6) Performance of different Councillors should be measured by different parameters and their report card to be published in the Corporation Website every month 7) Transportation through cycle to be encouraged. 8) A big railway station can be built between Singnallur & Podanur track
