All the trees on the highways were cut down to lay roads and doesn't seem like any steps have been taken to replace those Greenaries in the city. Nowhere we could see trees within the city limit which is really bad for the city with so many businesses and natural pollution control (trees) - nowhere to be seen. Please take steps to restore the environment with greens and proper pollution control regulations.

Good City, Lot of space to expand and very good people.
Lot of skills. Large number of colleges in coimbatore.
Cost of living is low.
Hardworking labor. Already having many mechanical industries thriving here.

Vision: To have a continued development that would change Coimbatore as a clean/green city and make it the real Manchester of India
Strengths: Best in Class Education from KG till Graduation, Small/Medium scale businesses that give good job opportunities, Attitude of people, Posh/Classy population considerably high, Fine restaurants
Weakness: Infrastructure especially Roads, drainage, public transport services, Wireless/Internet services, No green seen in the city

Coimbatore has one of the best local technical talent. If it's used wise by giving good opportunity to the technical entrepreneurs to invest within the city and contribute to the betterment of the society including small businesses, it can significantly contribute to the growth.

A clean city is a good start for a smart city. Remove all enchroachments, proper drainage, use of alternate energy where possible, enforce strict emission control in industries and vehicles, reduce waiting time in offices (automate or internet based payment etc in such places), advance reporting of traffic jams to assist with alternate routes and reporting of status of public transportation (GPS tracking on bus etc) and much more...

A Smart city project should have plans to accommodate rural migrants to avoid slum development. Well planned roads to avoid congestion of traffic.plastics can be used for laying roads for good drainage.A city with solar street lights.Cold storage facility for perishable products in places like ulavar santhai. Speciality hospital .Technology which avoids manual scavenging.public transport which provide facility to lactating mother.Establishing solid waste management plant at various region.

Long term needs (5 - 15 years):- IoT enabled public safety, next generation e911, green initiatives and focus on tourism
Immediate needs are focused on spurring businesses and connectivity, whereas medium and long term needs are aimed at improving livability in the city thus balancing each other for a sustainable development.
