Salem, the fifth largest city in Tamil Nadu is also known as ‘Steel City’. Salem city has been selected as one of the smart cities under the ministry of Urban development, Government of India’s Smart Cities mission.Salem is now required to formulate its own unique vision, mission and plan under the Smart cities Challenge. This has to be done in consultation with the city residents and stakeholders. Salem city Municipal Corporation requests all its citizens of Salem city to share their views, opinions and area improvement suggestions to make the city Salem as a smart city. Your valuable views and suggestions are important to transform the city as a smart city to improve the quality of life for each one of their citizens in Salem City.

17.airport expansion and frequent flight service is very very essential for growth of city, without airport big IT companys wont come in, even for other transportation & logistic purpose airport is very essential 18.birth certificate ,community certificate and other sort of government data shoulod be Digitalised 19. HI-TECH goverment hospital should be maintain properly 20.clean toilets and maintenance is very essential in bus stand ,railway stations and other public places

13 yercaud should be developed as a major tourist attraction 14.IT park is very essential for development of city, district or state goverment has to take right action to complete work of tidel park and soon it has to be open, the major steps also has to be taken to attract more IT companys to our city 15.frequent water and current supply 24/7 16.proper sanitary system has to be maintained to keep city clean & waste has to be clean properly

9.2000 acer panamarathu patti lake which belongs to corporation can be converted into tourist spot with boating facility 10.leebazzar lorry market have to be shifted to other place 11.golf ground inside a burn & co have to be maintained properly and develope by government 12.kuramapatti zoological park has to be expand and maintained properly with more animals

4.underground cable ,centre median ,clean roads & mainly they have maintain and clean properly 5.flyovers in essential places to avoid traffic , surveillance camera in all roads ,and ring road around the city 6. bus stand should be shifted to outer part of the city to avoid more traffic flow 7. big trade centre halls is essential to conducts fairs, meetings etc........ 8. multi level parking, morning walking path and parks for children

1.city need expansion from 60-100 wards because now we are 8.5lack population if we are only 10 lack populated city will be consider as a big city according to government policy, then only salem will get into special status and we will get more funds from central government 2. salem need good & wide roads with side walk path & beautiful street lights 3 bus stops can be modernised equal to metro which was done recently done in chennai, coimbatore and even road side parks can be create

See is believing- I suggest we mount WIFI cameras on all the govt owned transport vechiles (buses / trucks / vans / 2 wheelers ) and connect them to various depts of public health / police / transport / roads / garbage clearance and many more ,these cameras will give live feed of the quality of roads / movement of vechiles / traffic violations/ garbage on streets / illegal hoardings / misuse of power for political rallies / road side tree cuttings / public behaviour in bus stands and many more

1)Satellite Bus stands on Ay 1)Satellite Bus stands on Ayodhiyapatnam, Seelanaickenpatti, Karuppur and Uthamasolapuram. 2)Bus bay on Salem Junction to be widened with ease in entry and exit. 3)Second entrance for Salem railway junction 4)New bus routes to be operated, covering remote areas around the city. 5)Road widening with median installation and center lights to be mandated. 6)Mookaneri, Kuamaragiri lakes to be maintained and beautified. 7)Landscaping to be done on traffic

16) Rain water harvesting under the roads should be implemented along any new road construction so that the water are stored instead of flooding during the heavy rains and also it will be useful during the dry and drought conditions. 17) Green buses / Hybrid buses (fuel and electric) should be implemented with AC at least to connect to the near by districts and later one to Chennai and other Metro cities across Tamil Nadu and also to Bangalore.

13) In order make the airport a successful one, government should subsidize the airport charges for the flight operators for 6 to 12 months, and they can recover this once they have a good volume of passengers and operators. 14) Government should construct a good IT park (Similar to the ones in Chennai - Tidel park) and provide it at a better rate, so that IT companies will be interested in taking their share on it. 15) Bio-Toilets, similar to the ones in Chennai should be implemented.

11) Complementing the already implemented Fastag infrastructure, Salem city collecter / highways department chief should enforce all the commercial vehicles, including bus operators to have Fastag as mandatory to use the tolls and highways. Also Fastag can be made optional to the customers who buy a new car and the car show rooms must have the facility to get one for the new car. 12) All the government school teachers should have performance appraisal every year so that we get good results.
