Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released a Consultation Paper on ‘Review of Interconnect Usage Charges’ on 05.08.2016.

Interconnection means the commercial and technical arrangements under which telecom service providers (TSPs) connect their equipment, networks and services to enable their customers to have access to the customers, services and networks of other TSPs. Interconnection is extremely important from a consumer perspective. Telecom users cannot communicate with each other or connect with services they demand unless necessary interconnection arrangements are in place. Commercial and technical arrangements must be made to facilitate interconnection between TSPs. A number of issues must be agreed upon by the TSPs or determined by the regulator in order to finalize these arrangements. The most important commercial issue for a successful interconnection arrangement is the Interconnection Usage Charge (IUC). The Authority specified IUC for the first time in 2003. Subsequently, these charges have been revised in 2006, 2009 and 2015.

The Consultation Paper issued today, inter-alia, seeks inputs of the stakeholders mainly on the following broad issues:

(i) Approaches to be used for prescribing domestic termination charges (viz. mobile termination charges and fixed termination charges) for maximization of consumer welfare, adoption of more efficient technologies and overall growth of the telecommunication services sector; and

(ii) Approaches to be used for prescribing international termination charges and international settlement rates in the country for long-term sustainable growth of the International Long Distance (ILD) service segment.

To promote digital India TRAI should intervene in the Mobile data plan high prices. in European countries internet is free service and is fundamental right. There must be a range of data plans at reasonable rates. One more thing the operators are not providing adequate speed and they charge more and give less data with less speed. TRAI must fix the minimum speed of 3G/4G/BROADBAND as per international standerds

Here is an example of the pathetic state of PSU governance in India. I am a resident of Tamil Nadu and having a BSNL landline. I am seeing a component 'Hungama Package' in my bill and I am charged Rs. 240 month on month for this unknown service. When I approached the BSNL to get this canceled, they gave me an email id and customer support number, which are fake. Why should a PSU resort to such fraudulent & unethical business practices? Can't BSNL. do business with some ethics?

Hi, There was discussion among TRAI team for omitting National Roaming, but still we are seeking any action on it.TRAI comes with different positive stratigies, but thier execution is always poor. I am tryig to say that, we can say several things at single span time, but it should justufy at ground level. We are hoping that TRAI will re-consider their old dump ideads.

in case of mobile consumer complaints redressel trai has ended nodal desk authority which might be fare for consumer because the mobile operators does not responses to consumer seriously to resoluton when contacted to appellate authority so their is need of nodal desk

TRAI sleeping every week the private telecom companies changing traiff by diffrent way amount same reduce validity date what a critical brain of the private telecom companies why TRAI give constant traiff for all private telecom companies why trai never cares anything

In mobile shops for 1000 rupee easy sales we get a commission 3 per while recharge for other state customers and especially booster cards wrong recharge means these private telecom companies never return,if they are not ready to return of wrong recharge better stop the booster cards and other state recharges,why made loss to public TRAI never take action against these private telecom companies

Trai is totally waste why because private telecom companies never under the control of Trai. very imporant sim card activation every month lot of dummy activations made by the private telecom companies by the dealers of private telecom companies. indian government should strikly action these its our national security and very important.indian government should announce a new system for simcard activations. For recharge cards every week changing the traiffs.waste

TRAI have almost no control to the Pvt telecom company regarding voice and data sharing of general citizens. This is like all general citizens are naked to over smart ppl,who r involve to create laws for their personal advantages 😁 There should have a citizens mobile confidentiality law and without permission of president and PM no body can break that😐

I have subscribed with ACT Broadband service since last two years. I subscribe for 12 months plan where they give 2 months free. On 1st August 2016 I renewed subscription but they took money for 13 months. Several emails to them asking for refund of the excess amount has gone into their deaf ears. They do newspaper advertisement lot but their service is worst.

It will be better if we follow below points:- √ No same bonus card pack can be activated while validity not expire or if recharge done validity will extend. √ For VAS both sms and call should be done by specific serials and will be either Hinlish or religion languages. √ Any product can only be change after 48 hrs of communication. No sudden change pls. √ For Network issue Sr should be close one proper resolution provide and no future resolution can be entitled. Raise appell for 2nd tim
