Bengaluru (erstwhile Bangalore), the capital of Karnataka, has a history of over four hundred years, having been founded by Magadi Kempegowda in the year 1537 AD. With its strategic location as well as congenial climate, fertile land & adequate rainfall has grown steadily in its area.

The history of municipal governance of Bangalore dates back to 1862, when nine leading citizens of the city formed a Municipal Board under the Improvement of Towns Act of 1850. Later, a similar Municipal Board was also formed in the Cantonment area of the city. The two boards were legalised in 1881, and functioned as two independent bodies called the Bangalore City Municipality and the Bangalore Civil and Military Station Municipality.

Post-Independence, the two Municipal Boards were merged to form the Corporation of the City of Bangalore in 1949. In January 2007, the Karnataka Government issued a notification to merge 100 wards of the erstwhile Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) with seven City Municipal Council (CMCs’), one Town Municipal Council (CMC) and 111 villages around the city to form a single administrative area and the body was renamed 'Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike' (BBMP) in 2007.

This City has seen unprecedented growth in the last 20 years. We need to stop building new IT PARKS or other Apartments in already congested areas like Outer Ring Ring Road, Whitefield, Electronics City etc... First and foremost pumping the water from Cauvery basin will never be viable situation. This city has survived since 1537 due to its lakes and clever irrigation techniques devised by our ancestors. At least save the lakes of Bangalore for Encroachment and Dumping of waste.Jigani Lake At

Since we have ITPL, Shanthinikthen along with other IT BT centers in the ward. .. Hoodi ward no:54 should be part of the smart city project. ... There has been a lot of work done around the garbage management after Mr Hari Prasad took over as the corporator for ward :54...Coming from an teaching profession back ground. ...His ideology and commitment towards development is exceptional. ... Definitely a good tag with good package for developments will be required.Ward 54 deserves a smart city tag.

#SmartCity #NammaBengaluru Bangalore should be expanded in 150 km range linking other towns like Puttaparthi Anantapur Rayachoti Madanapalle in Andhra pradesh with Mumbai Type Sub-urban train systems. All around Bangalore150 km radious good green trees gardens forests need to be encouraged. This is required for water catchment areas of lakes to be saved for water protection in underground etc

Malleshwaram - The Smart City Neighbourhood is iconic part of Bengaluru is popularly known for its densely-plush green cover, while other areas that are losing appeal to a burgeoning concrete locality. A reason enough for most old residents to continue living here, and enjoy the luxury of an old-world charm. That said, its topography has equally evolved to an affable blend in reaching out the prerequisites of a modern city landscape, yet holding balance with tradition and culture magnificently.
