Bengaluru (erstwhile Bangalore), the capital of Karnataka, has a history of over four hundred years, having been founded by Magadi Kempegowda in the year 1537 AD. With its strategic location as well as congenial climate, fertile land & adequate rainfall has grown steadily in its area.

The history of municipal governance of Bangalore dates back to 1862, when nine leading citizens of the city formed a Municipal Board under the Improvement of Towns Act of 1850. Later, a similar Municipal Board was also formed in the Cantonment area of the city. The two boards were legalised in 1881, and functioned as two independent bodies called the Bangalore City Municipality and the Bangalore Civil and Military Station Municipality.

Post-Independence, the two Municipal Boards were merged to form the Corporation of the City of Bangalore in 1949. In January 2007, the Karnataka Government issued a notification to merge 100 wards of the erstwhile Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) with seven City Municipal Council (CMCs’), one Town Municipal Council (CMC) and 111 villages around the city to form a single administrative area and the body was renamed 'Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike' (BBMP) in 2007.

Ward No 82 is an ideal ward for implementation of the smart city project. It has about 1200-1300 acres of mixed use developments- hi tech offices, residential complexes, hospitals and medical college, malls and commercial hubs. This will make it and ideal place for full utilisation of smart city functionalities.

Bengaluru and more specifically, Ward No.82, Garudacharpalya has been attracting IT investments from both Indian and Multinationals....despite its infrastructural woes...it is the ideal candidate for SMART CITY project.. If selected, it will prove to the world, how with a little nudge and support, it can outgrow even the Silicon valley in terms of performance.....

Please select ward no 82 Garudacharpalya for SMART CITY. This is the central IT hub with most of the indian and MNC IT companies having offices. The place is booming with big shopping malls. A big population of the employees working in the near by company are staying in this ward. This is right place to build smart city and provide best in class infrastructure for the citizens and visitors from India and across the world.

Please select Ward 82 for the smart city project. This ward houses some of Bengaluru's largest IT companies, Export Promotion Zones,Hospitals and educational institutions. Not to mention many housing communities that are also in this area. Though there is huge development in various departments we have many infrastructure problems which need to be sorted out immediately. Ward No 82 is an ideal ward to showcase the Governments vision of a smart city in Bengaluru.
