Competence of teachers and their motivation is crucial for improving the quality. Several initiatives are being taken for addressing teacher shortages, shortages of secondary school teachers in mathematics, science and languages, improving the quality of pre-service teachers and in-service teachers professional development, enhancing the status of teaching as a profession, improving teachers’ motivation and their accountability for ensuring learning outcomes, and improving the quality of teacher educators. The objective of this theme is to assess the existing scenario and provide workable solutions to address the gamut of issues in teacher education in the school sector.

Can you imagine, the B. Ed. degree has been converted to a four semester (2 year) programme. What will they do? teach all the age old theories of education. After the students (prospective teachers) pass out, they can't pass the Central TET exam! And TET is an exam that tests one's teaching aptitude more than anything else. What are we trying to achieve by making everything so textbook centric - beginning from nursery to Civil Services Exam to B.Ed?

To improve quality of teachers and address teacher shortage we have to improve the quality of individuals entering the profession. Make it sought after by enhancing and giving competitive salaries. Improve status in society and make motivation rather than take those who cannot do anything else. Good teachers are required in all subjects, not just the sciences.

Also there should be no dearth of resouces for the teachers as well as students. An online portal can be devloped that on the lines of NPTEL of IIT that will provide all the resouces on a subject at a single point in the most LUCID manner likewise what IIT Professors have done in NPTEL. Also it will be good if some channels could be launched on the lines of KISAN CHANNEL where the students even in the remotest village can learn by self. It may be named EKLAVYA channel.

There should be one TEACHER TRAINING COLLEGE or may be a TEACHER TRAINING MINI UNIVERSITY in every state capital.Here the experienced teachers in the subjects can give training to other teachers.Every teacher in the state should get 15-20 days of compulsory training every year.It will indirectly benefit the students they will be teaching.

the trainings given to teachersshould me most contentable,and it must applicable in the class romms...for that proper way of monitoring must be maintain and also teachers have to attend professional development programmes..examinations and evaluation is not only meant for students and also fro teachers for every 3 years.Teachers must update according to the present techonolgy.

नमस्ते महोदय आज इस २१वीं सदी में शिक्षा के सुधार हेतु जो उपाय होने चाहिए वे संलग्न है मेरा व्यक्तिगत विचार यह है कि जब तक शिक्षा को राजनीति के दायरे से बाहर नहीं निकाला जाता तब तक वह अंधकारमय है उदाहरण -तबादला ,आरक्षण ,सिफारिश ,रिश्वत आदि इसे व्यंगात्मक गरिमामयी शब्द है जिनसे हमारी आने वाली पीढी इनके प्रभाव से दूर नहीं रह सकती | मैंने कई बार देखा है 12% लाने वाला अध्यापक है ३५००० रुपये प्रतिमाह कमा रहा है और ट्यूशन से उसका घर खर्च और तनख्वाह से शहर मे प्लाट बनता है | और 80% लाने वाला ???????????

assess of teachers through periodical examination by 5 years to verify eligibilty to continue or remove, annual increments, ideal awards should given by considering actual quality contribution of work in education..
