INSTITUTES SHOULD BE RANKED ACCORDING TO CONTINUOUS EVALUATION BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF EVALUATION COMMITTEE NOT BY PERIODIC EVALUATIONS ALSO THE CONCERNED INSTITUTE SHOULD NOT BE INFORMED BEFORE HAND ABOUT THE EVALUATION AS THE INSTITUTE MAKES SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS OTHERWISE TO SHOW THE EVALUATION COMMITTEE

Here I would like give my views on some frequent problems which i recognized. I am a engineering student, persuing my my b.tech from GKV Haridwar university. The most prominent problem which i recognized is faculty problems .They are not of that quality which actually required for these technical education . Also,They don't think how many students' future depend on them. They think after being a professor their life are settled mostly in gov. Colleges. And nothing to do more . that must not be.

More than ranking of institutions i think we need to first improve our syllabus from class 1. We also need to have lot of lessons on basic ethics, mannerisms etc to create a good n tolerant society.I think to rank institutions on factors like behaviour of staff and students, cleanliness, practical work done etc will be more appropriate than ranking by position/rank of students in studies as in our education system there is only parrot/learning by heart studies, without understanding the subject

UGC has made accreditation mandatory. It can very well make filling up of all academic posts mandatory too!! The other parameters for ranking of insts such as infrastructure, etc. are definitely secondary to the manpower recruitments.

It was not surprising to understand that Education was kept in the Concurrent List of the Constitution as the policy-makers perhaps thought it would create a discord among states, but in the changed scenario of globalization a unified policy of education is needed much throughout the nation as the students suffer most due to the lack of it but it is to be made through consencious among states and there must be respect to the every word of the Constitution.

So far creation institutions are based on political patronage. Institutions to be created or renamed in such a away that that will become self regulatory entity in that skill sets. And all other entities in that skill to be adhered to the governing frame work / accreditation designed by it. Eg national school of drama, JJ school of art, IITs common panel, IIMs common panel, Wood krafts common skills school, Agri collages across the countries, etc.

As for global ranking! what good will it do? even if we get a couple of universities or institutions in the list and take pride in wearing the star(s). the teaming millions in the mess will pull us down. we cant stand on mess wearing our star. and anyway the dust from the mess we have created might just settle on the star and take some shine away. so better to clear the mess....then to focus on an elusive star ranking. we will get there if push up the million mountain

my point is, please repair education BOTTOM-UP cosmetic surgery cannot make the product beautiful from the inside. whats been done is done. the current lot is pathetic, we know it. we are teaching. I have consistently seen the quality of students fall in last 12 years and it has gotten worst every year. there has been no revival. and the story is same..ask a engineering faculty, or computer science, or any other field for that matter.

worst if the HOD or a senior faculty(in private if you have spend 4 years, get ready to mentor others) is young and his or herself needs time for career development ...he or she gets none in the grueling 9am - 5pm sometimes 9am - 6 or 7pm 6 days a week schedule. there are no pay benefits for the mentoring and coaching delivered , there is no training, career growth is stunted. when juniors see such condition of their senior. they learn fast and shun work which requires mentoring and coaching

Most of the second level management colleges (affiliated to univ, self-financed) have young faculty members' who are themselves in need of constant guidance and mentoring, regarding research, teaching and delivering effective lecture skills, counselling students, etc. since there is no training program to help them. HODs and Directors seem to be full time involved in this mentally tiring work for which there is no praise or accounting for by the management or the accrediting institutions.
