Providing a digital identity to all individuals is crucial to facilitate electronic authentication for delivery of online public services. The digital identity must be unique, lifelong, online and authenticable. The digital identity should be easily verifiable in an online and cost-effective way. Aadhaar provides such a digital identity that also serves as a proof of identity and address for individuals. If such a digital identity could be linked to mobile phones in a secure manner, it would make the task of online authentication much easier at the level of the individual. As the penetration of mobile phones is high, this digital identity will facilitate the delivery of online services more easily.

Ideas and suggestions are welcome on how mobile phones and digital identity could be linked so that mobile phones can be used as instruments for online electronic authentication of individuals’ identities. The suggestions may include technical architecture and solutions, policy guidelines, process improvements, implementation mechanisms, cost effectiveness, operational efficiency, etc. You can upload your ideas in doc or pdf format.

Mobile phones as identifying devices is highly problematic as it is very easy to misuse it for tracking citizens movements and infringe on their right to privacy. The security/validity/abuse of Aadhaar database has already been called into question in the runup to the 2014 elections... this digital identity goes far far beyond Aadhaar so don't see how it's even justified to ask such a question without addressing basic issues. Surprisingly didn't see any objection by others on the task!!

It is true penetration of mobile phones is very high but authentication is difficult like Aadhar. Service providers indiscriminately issued SIM cards. Every mobile user is having more than single SIM.In a family most of the SIMs are in the name Father/Mother. Children mostly female in rural are not having Mobile. So first of all we have to decide to regulate SIM cards. Then ensure every body get a SIM in the name of own. Then only any step forward. More Mobiles do not mean every body have a mobile

Before using mobile phones as digital identity,we should make a survey how many are using mobilephones(especially smartphones). To my knowledge,74 percent are using mobile phones(not smart phones). In that 74 percent ,percentage of people using internet on phones is nearly 20-30 part of total. First in order to make mobile phones as digital identity one should start with bringing of awareness among the people about the smartphones in this fast moving generation. After this program,we can start !

Respected PM sir, ONE VOTE ONE INDIA, should be our aim now. This is possible by using the biometric data that the Government is collecting for Adhar card. This data from all over India can be utilized. The elections in India will be paper free, free of corruption, everybody will be able to exercise the basic right of voting, no holiday is required. One can vote from anywhere in India, like one can withdraw the cash from ATM machine.

Digital Signature Is a process through which we can authenticate individual identity. I suggest that we can link mobile no with Digital Signature certificate coding process in PKI so that whenever a person required to prove his/her identity he/she can manage through mobile. It is not a complex architecture, CCA india can do it very easily.
