The main threat from the industries near Ganga is solid waste and contaminated water being drained in this river ,the way to mitigate this pollution is to filter the solid waste first and to treat the contaminated water, if this water after treatment also is not usable for other purposes then it should be drained in the river ,solid waster of the industries may be crushed, compressed ,burnt, soaked and after all this if there is something that may be used as agricultural purposes.

Wastewater Treatment Process Assessment System should be developed to ensure performance of the effluent treatment plants and sewage treatment plants. There has to be very comprehensive, technically elaborate annual evaluation and corrective action programme for industrial waste management in addition to what SPCBs monitor and permit. So that the investments in ETPs / STPs become fruitful and these infrastructures do not become liability.

i agree that heavy fines should be imposed on factories who are making Ganga dirty. There should be a very high level meeting with the owners of the factories along with wise govt officials on how to relocate them away from Ganga and measures to reduce the waste their factory is producing. Recycling of waste material should be considered which will incur more expenses to factories(already imposed in many countries) .Report should be submitted on it and verified , finally it should be Practical.

1) Develop Water Treatment Plant for the Industries , Especially for leather industry in Kanpur 2) Monitor Incoming Water flows with help of Satellites and Identify the source. 3) Gave Warning to Source / industry/ company/ city , If Industry didn't acted on Warning, then Either Take over the industry /company/ management and sold / identify new owner who pledges to work on Anti -pollution norms and do not release untreated water from the company / industry etc.

biological contractors, up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket system and root zone treatment. ¾ Top layer of soil under the vegetative cover maintains microenvironment within which soil flora and fauna decompose the organic matter. Thus, top layer of soil can be utilized for the treatment of domestic sewage and variety of biodegradable wastewaters (root-zone treatment). Land treatment can tolerate fluctuation in loading more readily than conventional processes. This technology is well established

To prevent pollution from industrial effluents, it must be made mandatory for operating any industry producing effluents to have a Sewage Treatment + Reverse Osmosis Plant for treatment of effluent generated to ensure that it does not have TDS of more than 500 .. The waste generated can then be disposed off in designated landfills and the treated effluent be used again in industrial processes or released into the river .. these STP + RO plant can be developed in industrial clusters on PPP basis
