First step in waste management is segregation of bio de-gradable and non bio degradable waste. Our municipalities should start placing separate garbage bins for the same and also raise awareness about the same.

Button-push starting change in mentality towards garbage is wishful; we know that these cities/towns will take atleast 2-3 years to show results. These can then be models for change in other centers at district & state level, truly ushering in a Revolution about waste. Criteria used for selection, Administrative, Size, Growth pace, Tourism, Strategic, Literacy. Strategies suggested: Make the polluter pay, yay!

Pilot testing for 50 cities and 150 towns should be spread at all parts of India in a way to understand the responses and difficulties faced due to different demograghic scenarios. As the circumstances are different and also the requirement may vary upon location, climate and area. It would be better to take the capital of every state first it would be better idea to understand the ground realities at different cities of India. While choosing town, they may be categorised as per indrustialisatio

We propose Soil Biotechnology (SBT) based decentralised sewage and organic solid waste management systems. See website... www.lifelink.in . Developed at IIT Bombay, SBT differs fundamentally from conventional technologies; SBT system looks like an aesthetic garden, provides very high quality treated water and biofertiliser using very less energy and has lowest life cycle cost with consistent operation for 10 to 15 years. It is zero-discharge, uses no synthetic chemicals, no sludge is produced
