Among the key challenges in creating a sustainable model for building toilets are the issues of water conservation and sewage treatment. If towns can be somehow supplied with power using this waste, it will resolve these issues. The proposition here is to have a electricity plant in a town that will be powered by sewage from the outskirts and neighbouring villages of the towns (which are a dime a dozen). This ensures that sewage doesn't drain at the nearby river.

As far as I have seen all cities with IT, automotive, chemical or other industries, and all towns having SEZs in them require this pilot testing. The only clean places possibly are farms and luxurious places. Even most of religious places are very unhygienic and unclean due to improper waste management.

When I think about cities to name for cleaning....I think all the cities and small towns even my small village. So I think it will be not a problem for our Govt. to select the names. I would suggest one thing that should be considered during implementation of the project :- local people must be considered to be involved irrespective of their political/ social back ground. Once they are involved and become the part of the project it will be a big success for long run.

All tier II and III towns- we can chose 5 from each of the 29 states. These are the places where the conditions are most severe. There are no proper waste disposal systems. The impact of cleaning these would be immediately felt by the population. There are machines available that can turn certain types of solid waste into manure. These could be installed. Plus, a massive sensitization and education campaign should be launched. We could use "kar seva" concept in villages, towns to clean them up

It is good to add Jodhpur in the list as recently on August 15, local administration with public participation started clean Jodhpur project. It is innovative in nature as 50 wards are taken care by mohalla samities and day to day execution is done by these samities which will have a team of local volunteers to support the initiative. Green vehicles are donated by people from the city. These vehicles based on CNG/PNG will be used to collect waste.

Chennai,Delhi,Kolkata,Mumbai,Ranchi,Jamshedpur,Muzaffarpur,Dhanbad,Asansol,Surat,Bangalore,Patna,Vellore,Vijaywada,Hyderabad .As these are some of the dirtiest and cleanest cities and towns so these project must be initiated in these cities and towns to compare the peoples response to it. At first make an advertisement in electricity bill for mandatory presence of people of certain area to attend the awareness program about solid and water waste and take their opinion about locally solving it.
