many house hold wastes( plastics, metal ,paper etc) has resell value. Generally people throw it to make house clean.Periodically should be collected and recycled. If in the process we attach school student to gather it in their home n sell the same to a buyer of recycling plant ,and the selling money will be deposited in their school which will be adjusted in their annual fee then it will be a incentive for them and also to some extent make our city clean.

Like suggested by Sagar Gandhi I too would like to propose the Sweden model for utilization of our garbage. Our Garbage has a potential to be gold mine and setting one these plants itself is revenue for the govt. Not only that it would employment for lakhs of people. Modi if you hearing take a look at this video how "Importing garbage for energy is good business for Sweden" http://vimeo.com/103801887 All we need to do is segregate our waste.

Avoid using plastics as much we can, generally we can use our kitchen wastes in to our plants and cattle's , people in rural areas will do this practice regularly, but in cities we need to collect the garbages from each streets and appartments and then have to separate plastics and others. If we can recycle the wastes and change it in to fertilizer remaining we can dump in outskirt of the city

Waste should be segregated from the collection site itself for example every street should have 3 different colored bins red- plastic waste, blue - edible waste, Pink - Non Edible recyclable. There should be 3 different trucks colored in the same order as above to empty the bins as segregated in them so that plastic waste can be taken to plastic recycling plant immediately on that day itself, edible waste will go to manure making. Water treatment should be installed for every area toreduecBOD
