Melbourne is most liveable city in the world. Indian MPs are currently touring Australia before PMs visit. They should try to learn ways to keep cities clean and green. Nothing comes for free. We in Melbourne pay high rates for house tax (0.4% per annum of property value). Same amount we pay for water and sewerage and park together. Municipalities in India can't provide expected level of service without adequate resources. Due to political reasons house tax and water rates are very low in India.

Double Cleaning: Repeating a cleaning regimen immediately after it has been done once. Double cleaning is not the same as cleaning twice per day. Double cleaning must be documented. We need to bring the attitude from the school education about cleanliness like in japan Every class is responsible for cleaning its own classroom and two other places in the school. Clean Campaign should be part of Environmental Ministry and there should clear mission goals and objectives defined for whole program

disadvantages of incineration: a comprehensive report on whether incineration is good or not, bcz many others here provided incineration as a solution, we need to check, whether it really is...these reports explain why incineration, is outdated process, and how we lose raw material, after we burn ...and they also say, how resulting manufacure, production and transportation cause heavy strain on economy, fuel( for transporting)....

In Germany consumers are paid back for returning the empty plastic bottles. This will motivate the people to dispose in the right place rather than throwing in public place. In every ward level place should be identified to compost the wet waste generated in the ward. Increase the plastic carry bag cost this will force people to avoid plastic bags. Recognize people who do composting at house itself in every ward level.

It is very important to implement segregation of waste at source, especially in metros. Like in Bangalore most of the city waste is dumped in the near by village. Which should be stopped and bio-degradable waste should be banned for land fill. Vendors should start rejecting the waste of its not segregated. Waste collection charges should be imposed on the amount of waste produced. In every ward level there should be waste collection centre for plastic, glass.
