The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
      1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
      a. Waste management and zero waste systems
      b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
      c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
      d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
      e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
      f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
      g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

      How to participate?
      1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
      2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
      3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi: Behavior-Driven Zero Food Waste Model To transform the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela into a "Zero Waste Mahotsav," we must eliminate both plastic and food waste (anna nasadi) through structured administration and behavioral nudges, leveraging successful models like Indore's Bartan Bank and Udaipur's flower upcycling.

I propose the “Prasad-to-Plant Circular Blessing System,” where devotees receive a biodegradable seed token with prasad. Organic mela waste is turned into compost for tree plantations, and a live dashboard tracks recycling and tree growth—promoting sustainability through “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi.”

Respected Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally submit a comprehensive project proposal titled "Waste Management Bank Project" for the consideration of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. This project aims to establish a structured framework for waste collection, segregation, and resource recovery, operating on a model that incentivizes community participation while optimizing waste disposal workflows. The initiative is designed to support environmental sustainability, reduce municipal management.

Green Shiv Sevak Initiative: Every devotee can become a “Green Shiv Sevak” by earning QR-based Punya Points for using cloth bags, segregating waste, returning reusable utensils, participating in cleanliness drives, and planting saplings. Floral offerings can be converted into compost, while plastic-free stalls become mandatory. By connecting environmental responsibility with spirituality, Baghpat can emerge as a national model for Zero Waste Mahotsavs. – Sahaj Sabharwal

Controlling the pilgrimage devoties are divided into two more types. Rushed, stamped, gathering, queuing, ect., Here's pulling management may be strategically applied to handle the devotees. Running water may be purified and arranged to be offered for Drinking to the devotees. Every short distance Dustbin tobe kept to collect the waste. Every short period the Dustbin tobe cleared with rolling /pushing little bit four wheelers.
