The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
      1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
      a. Waste management and zero waste systems
      b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
      c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
      d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
      e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
      f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
      g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

      How to participate?
      1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
      2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
      3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

Respected Sir, My name is Jashvi Ohri and I am a 12-year-old student from Delhi. I request a ban on the hidden plastic linings inside disposable paper cups, which cause massive pollution. Instead, we should promote traditional clay kullhads. They are completely zero-waste, break down safely into garden soil when watered, and support our local potters. Please help us switch to these eco-friendly clay alternatives for a plastic-free India.

Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi: Zero Waste Mela Floral Waste: Convert temple flowers into organic compost (Prasad Khat) or incense sticks. Eco-Cutlery: Ban plastics; mandate terracotta cups (Kulhads) and millet edible spoons. Water ATMs: Install free filtration booths; give discounts to visitors with reusable bottles. Green Sankalp: Tie eco-friendly sacred threads onto pilgrims taking a cleanliness pledge. Trash for Tokens: Offer priority temple entry coupons in exchange for bringing recyclable waste.

Use QR-based time slots for darshan. Features: Online registration. Live crowd-density display screens. SMS updates for devotees. Digital maps for facilities. Benefits: Reduces overcrowding and littering. Improves visitor experience. Supports sustainable tourism and event management. Create a youth volunteer force called "Green Sevaks. Who will support waste segregation, awareness campaigns, and visitor guidance. Digital certificates and recognition will motivate volunteer participation.

Mahashivratri is one of the most sacred festivals celebrated with immense devotion at Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Temple. With thousands of devotees visiting the temple, it presents a unique opportunity to demonstrate environmental responsibility by organizing the event as a Zero Waste Mahotsav. The primary objective should be to minimize waste generation and ensure that all unavoidable waste is properly segregated, recycled, or composted. Single-use plastics such as disposable cups, plat

Dear MyGov, I suggest splitting our enforcement into 2 dedicated wings: Team A (Criminal & Security): Strictly for crimes, theft, & law-and-order. Team B (Civic Ground Force): 24/7 on-field patrolling for civic sense, sanitation, & traffic. Rules for Team B: Instant digital-only fines (zero cash to stop corruption) for littering, spitting, & illegal parking. Let's pilot this in Delhi/UP to clean cities & boost tourism.
