Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation came into existence as an Independent Ministry on 15.10.1999 after the merger of the Department of Statistics and the Department of Programme Implementation. The Ministry has two wings, one relating to Statistics and the other Programme Implementation. The Statistics Wing called the National Statistical Office(NSO) consists of the Central Statistical Office (CSO), the Computer center and the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO). The Programme Implementation Wing has three Divisions, namely,
Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, is entrusted with the welfare, social justice and empowerment of disadvantaged and marginalised sections of society, including Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens, and Victims of Drug Abuse.
Ministry of Science and Technology
The Ministry promotes scientific research, innovation, and technological advancement through its Departments of Science and Technology, Biotechnology, and Scientific & Industrial Research. It supports research institutions, innovation ecosystems, and technology development initiatives.
Ministry of Information and Broadcasting
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is responsible for formulating and administering policies relating to information, broadcasting, the press, films, and entertainment media in India. It serves as the primary interface for communicating government policies, schemes, and achievements to citizens through mass media — including radio, television, print, and digital platforms.The Ministry is functionally organised into three wings — Information, Broadcasting, and Films — and oversees several key bodies:
Ministry of Law and Justice
The Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, deals with legal affairs, legislative activities, and the administration of justice for the country, functioning through its constituent departments. It works to provide legal advice to the government, draft and maintain central legislation, and oversee judicial administration, ensuring the smooth functioning of India's legal and justice delivery systems.
Ministry of Civil Aviation
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) is responsible for the formulation of national policies and programmes for the development and regulation of the civil aviation sector in the country. It oversees matters relating to air transport services, airport infrastructure, air safety, and aviation security.
Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is responsible for formulating and implementing policies relating to information technology, electronics manufacturing, internet governance, and digital services in India. It drives the country's digital economy by promoting the IT and electronics industries, ensuring cybersecurity, and regulating online intermediaries and digital media.
Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) is the nodal agency in the administrative structure of the Central Government for the planning, promotion, co-ordination and overseeing the implementation of India’s environmental and forestry policies and programmes.
Indian Space Research Organisation - ISRO
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is the space agency of India. The organisation is involved in science, engineering and technology to harvest the benefits of outer space for India and the mankind. ISRO is a major constituent of the Department of Space (DOS), Government of India.
