The temple city of Tirupati has been shortlisted by Ministry of Urban Development as one of the potential 100 smart cities in India. The Tirupati Municipal Corporation is currently working on upgrading its proposals for Round 2 of the Smart City Mission. One of the key processes of the Mission is to engage with the citizens at every stage in order to prioritise the areas for intervention. The Municipal Corporation of Tirupati are requested to examine the earlier proposals in detail and identify The gaps in the light of the Guidelines / Generic gaps issued by the MOUD and post their remarks/feedback on the discussion thread. The citizen engagement would lead to a meaningful envisioning exercise and identify the priority areas of physical, social; economic and institutional infrastructure. It is expected that the citizens participate in this exercise and help Tirupati successfully traverse the path of transforming itself in to a Smart.

Low cost houses should be built for the people under poverty line so that housing condition of the city should be improved

Tirupati is strategically located near Bengaluru and Chennai, development along these corridors should increase the footfall to tirupati and can generate revenue

We should make sure that, Tirupati should not face environmental problems like that of other major cities facing today, Putting in mind the Chennai disaster happened a year back, we need to have a well planned underground drainage system

Dear Sir, Tirupati is selected for SMART city challenge, I am very happy, but there are few things to be improved for the second round of the competition. 1) Employment generation. 2) Better Transportation facilities. 4) Plastic free zone. 5) Crime free zone. 6) Waste management 7) Rain water harvesting. 8) On line file transfer (to reduce corruption).

The SMART City Proposal Round 1 was a great work and I appreciate the Municipal Corporation Tirupati and supporting agencies both government and non-government. Now I would suggest decreasing the size of area to be less than 700 acres or so, which will cover the Govinda Raj Swamy Temple, Pushkarini and major Transport hub of Tirupati

Importance of Science Museum, Heritage, Culture, Vedic Patashala should be given an importance in the proposal. Because these are among the strongest Pillars for Tirupati

The points proposed are more sensible, we need strong infrastructure for our city and it will also increase the number of tourist visiting the island which this region gets developed and ban of plastics and strict environmental protecting rules should be implemented to make this city highly green.
