The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry initiated the process of formulation of a new Industrial Policy in May 2017. Since the last Industrial Policy announced in 1991, India has transformed into one of the fastest growing economies in the world. With strong macro-economic fundamentals and several path breaking reforms in the last three years, India is equipped to deploy a different set of ideas and strategies to build a globally competitive Indian industry. The new Industrial Policy will subsume the National Manufacturing Policy.

A consultative approach has been taken for industrial policy formulation wherein six thematic focus groups and an online survey on DIPP website have been used to obtain inputs. Focus groups, with members from government departments, industry associations, academia, and think tanks have been setup to delve deep into challenges faced by the industry in specific areas. The six thematic areas include Manufacturing and MSME; Technology and Innovation; Ease of Doing Business; Infrastructure, Investment, Trade and Fiscal policy; and Skills and employability for the future. A Task Force on Artificial Intelligence for India’s Economic Transformation has also been constituted which will provide inputs for the policy.

It is proposed that the new Industrial Policy will aim at making India a manufacturing hub by promoting ‘Make in India’. It will also suitably incorporate the use of modern smart technologies such as IOT, artificial intelligence and robotics for advanced manufacturing.

Hon’ble Minister of State(i/c) for Commerce & Industry Smt Nirmala Sitharaman will hold consultations with stakeholders, including industry captains, think tanks and State governments in Chennai, Guwahati and Mumbai. The Industrial Policy is likely to be announced in October 2017.

DIPP invites comments, feedback, suggestions from the public regarding framing of the new Policy.

The last date of submission of suggestions is 25th September, 2017.

Build good quality farming machinery to help farmers, plus provide hands-on (real-life) projects for 3rd and 4th year engineering students by making them more skilled and employable. Using open-sourcing the blueprints for 50 farm machines, allowing anyone to build their own tractor or harvester from scratch. And that's only the first step in a project to write an instruction set for an entire self-sustaining village. https://www.ted.com/talks/marcin_jakubowski (must watch 4 min TED talk)

Govt should open a cell to monitor exports to a list of countries to start with. Select companies with highest quality, reasonable pricing, prompt deliveries, assured payments, technical support ,proper feedback & warranty , pre-dispatch inspections. Govt to govt to remove any bottle necks in smooth transactions. We have to establish our strengths in certain areas to be effective in exports. Govt with the help of industrial associations should give export ratings in execution and quality.

For industrial policy “converts,” pragmatic guidance, not theoretical justification of industrial policy, is needed. what needed-Strong leadership and mindset Policy content - Ability to select, combine and modify international best policy practices to create own policy package - Proactive industrial policy—policies must be consistent with globalization and market orientation

1) Uniform Civil Code & compulsory maximum 2 children policy for Indians of all faiths. Grant citizenship to all minorities of Bangladesh & Pakistan who wish to settle in India as they were Indians till 1947 & promised rehabilitation here if tortured there as per Nehru-Liaquat Pact. Hence, foreign Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators occupying our land & snatching jobs must be ousted & Govt can use Joint Session of Parliament to pass the Acts to overcome Rajyasabha hurdles if required!

The vast majority of young dedicated and skilled defence personnel retire each year at a very young age. They are lured to undergo futile prerelease courses. As all technologies are introduced in the armed forces initially : My suggestion that people with outstanding performance be marked during their service and unyielding time wasted in the garb of rehabilitation be utilized for making them manufacturer of thousands of components. Admin infrastructure is already there except the course.

While formation of new industrial policy following points can be considered : 1. New industrial policy should encourage new startups in manufacturing. Bcoz people today are not thinking of having a startup in manufacturing sector and this very sad.rather most are denying the idea of startup in mamanufacturing, bcoz there are many issues. 2. New policy should consider the business opportunities in electric vehicles sector. In next 10 years that will be going to boom!#DIPP #MyGov
