Please avoid writing all over on suitcases big "C" letters with chalkpiece while bag comes out through conveyor belt. I guess this is intended to identify bags that needs to be checked.find some other means.

Now days our respectful prime minister Mr. Narender Modi want to restrict Import item from China. I agree it must be stop but without our industry growth don't stop. Because if you stop then everything will be expensive as you can understand due to demand and supply. These days all agencies like preventive Sib and Dri of custom stop many container and checking very tightly. It is good but finally they make government revenue 10% and filling all officer 90% own Pocket. Plz attention.

Passenger clearance (Indians): can provide automatic clearance machines using Adhar data linked to passports. Refer system followed by Singapore. No filling of forms, No stamp on passport, one immigration officer can monitor at least 5 auto rows
Foreigners: should be controlled using fingerprint scanning and cameras. No requirement to fill lengthy forms which will expedite system

there should be no restriction on "personal" carry/ bringing in luggage of agricultural propagation materials primarily seeds, perhaps not plants(without the normal phyto). THis to increase the variety of plants. in ancient times import of seeds were not taxed by kingdoms ie were encouraged.

I am aware that there are rules and regulations for accountability of staff and officers of customs department, but, these are on papers only. Customs staff and officers should be made accountable in real terms.
For improving procedures and policies of customs department, rules and procedures followed by in the US, UK, Australia must be viewed, perused and if possible and adaptable for Indian environment, it must be adopted.

There is currently no easy way for citizens to access duties payable on baggage and items imported via post or courier. A user friendly interface is required for citizens to access this information from the CBEC's website.

There have ben cases where customs officers have delayed the clearance process, behaving irresponsibly with the goods and ending up damaging the good during the inspection process. Rules should be stringent for customs officers.
Harassment by customs offices should be taken very seriously and the consequences for harassing should be severe enough for discouraging for doing so, As of now it is very easy for a customs officer to get away with harassment charges.
