The Tumakuru city, Karnataka has been qualified under Government of India “Smart City Mission”. The second stage of city challenge is the preparation of “vision and proposal” for Tumakuru City. Hence, the current exercise is to prepare and submit the statement of vision along with the proposal to the Government of India through the active participation of citizens.

Tumakuru City makes an appeal with its citizens to formulate vision and give suggestions to prepare proposal to make it ‘Smart City’.

The Citizens are requested to formulate the vision, strategies of retrofit, redevelopment, green field and pan city as per Smart City Mission statement and Guidelines of Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

Please send your valuable opinions, suggestions, the proposals if any and feedback latest by 4th December, 2015.

Tumakuru is a place for almost 29 Industries, 342 Factories and large number small scale industries working in various sectors. The Industrial Smart City coming alongside of Vansanthnarasa pura Food Park will directly help the development of the city.

The city has abundant reserves of iron ore limestone and mineral wealth which adds up to the natural resources in the city. Even though the main occupation in the district is agriculture,

Tumakuru situated just 70 kms from Bengaluru is well connected by railways and road ways, the city has four lane roads connecting the city to the state capital is a gate way to at least 17 other districts in the state.

Investor friendly Smart City: To attract investments, experts and professionals good quality infrastructure, transparent online business and public governance should be buit up.

The people should be educated so that they can know what a Smart City is and adjust to the development of the city. This helps to reduce the resistance to change in the public.

Transportation is the central component of the smart growth initiative and a driving factor in shaping the growth and development of the City. Traffic circulation patterns, level of service (L.O.S.), accessibility and parking, and integration of alternative transportation modes, should be defined on future land use and urban form.

Tumakuru city needs development but not at the cost of losing its natural resources. Efficient use of natural resources should be the first priority of development.
