I congratulate to PM coming up with new ideas of 100 smart cities. In Hubli-Dharwad we all call it. The word "Dharwad" means a place of rest in a long travel or a small habitation. For centuries, Dharwad acted as a gateway between the Malenaadu (western mountains) and the Bayalu seeme (plains) and it became a resting place for travellers. The name is derived from the Sanskrit word 'dwarawata', 'dwara' meaning "door" and 'wata' or 'wada' meaning "town".

DEVELOPMENT OF GREENBELTS-- The Hubballi-Dharwad Urban Development Authority has left small pieces of land as "Garden". But these vacant land pieces are so small that they can not be development as Gardens & therefore these vacant lands should be converted in to thick "Green Belts" like in New Delhi a vast area of land has been converted in to a "Breathing Space" just opposite the "star Hotels-TAJ PALACE & MOURYA SHERATON" on Sardar Patel Marg. There are many such breathing spaces.

LAKE DEVELOPMENT--There are number of Lakes in& around the Twin Cities which if developed methodically can add beauty to the Cities. These lakes can become main source of outdoor activities like boating and other water sports. These lakes would be an ideal picnic spot. As of now there is hardly any place where the citizens of the twin cities can go & spend their holidays with children and other guests/relatives.
