Self sustainability is the key to turn any city to a smart city.Create decent employment opportunities for the youths in all the fields so that they dont have to migrate to other big cities for employment.Once this growth engine starts, rest of the things will automatically fall into perspective(like roads, metros, healthcare)since demand will be huge.Proper planning in accordance to population size & co ordination with local public/private org. will do the rest with focus on green & clean energy.

As citizen of Hubballi and Dharwad I am proud to be part of yhis discussion paticipation for Smart City developments. My focus intially is towards the roads health, which provides good tranposrting means in city and also if not maintained properly is the cause for traffic congestion, loss of proper drainage facil ities, can reduce parking space along roads, can reduce pedestrainian foot path. My presentation shall contain few things that we must not do so that roads health is protected.

Smart city would be smart in reality only if its citizens are smart enough! So educating general public regarding smart practices should be 1st priority
As of developing infrastructure,it has to be planned keeping requirements of city in next 10 years in mind.We don't want it to expand rapidly but beyond control and end up being a city like our state capital!
Process should be made transparent to public. Finally, involve public actively in process as its duty of citizens to make their city smart

Looking forward hubli-dharwad as smart city(s).
1. Wider roads with separate transit lanes for general traffic, BRTS & pedestrian.
2. Fly-over connecting heavy traffic zones both in Hubli & Dharwad to outer ring roads to divert heavy vehicle and other vehicles.
3. More number of public toilets to give boost swachh Bharat movement.
4. BRTS should enter the cities instead connecting only 20km stretch of between cities.
5. Ease to inverters to put their industries by providing good governance.

I am really overwhelmed on going to be a part of a Smart city which increases a lot of responsibilities also. Basically it is very essential to educate and create the belongingness in people of Hubballi-Dharwad. It is said that "Shastra Abhyasa is always required before any Battle" ( being prepared). So people should be educated on how to utilise the facilities they are provided so in turn all the work done will last longer. First the HDMC should bring educative hand outs(eg) for the public.

It's essential to include Hubli-Dharwad in 1st phase of building smart cities bcoz connectivity between cities mainly roads is in very bad condition. Also employment opportunities for graduates is less , one needs to move to other metro cities mainly Bangalore for jobs. IT companies, MNCs , Hardware manufacturing unit should be set up so that youth get job. We need smart roads, healthcare centres etc for better living. I urge u to shortlist Hubli-Dharwad in 1st phase. Thank u

My suggestion for smart city is to implement master plan or CDP soon which is the need of hour. Good wider roads making way for faster traffic movement, wider footpaths for the people to walk like in western countries. Construction of public two wheeler / 4 wheeler parking complexes avoiding vehicle parking on side of roads which is causing more traffic jams.

Hubli and Dharwad have a good advantage over other cities interms of industrial development. Hubli already has established small scale industries and is well connected to the major metros of India by railway (Head quarter of South western railway), road (Falls on Golden Quadrangle) and air(daily flight to Bangalore) . The nearest Sea Port (Marmagoa) is situated at a distance of 180 Km.
If the city promoted properly can become a major exporting cluster and provide employment to many people
