As per my opinion Hubli Dharwad needs lot of infrastructure and amenities to become smart city. It e-governance: Flyovers at certain areas where traffic is heavy like at Kittur Channamma circle and Hosur etc. Waste management and water management should be appropriate.

By adopting BIM(Building Information Modelling) process in all the smart cities we can:-
Taken from BluEnt
20% reduction in build costs
33% reduction is costs over the lifetime of the building
47% to 65% reduction in conflicts and re-work during construction
44% to 59% increase in the overall project quality
35% to 43% reduction in risk, better predictability of outcomes
34% to 40% better performing completed infrastructure
32% to 38% improvement in review and approval cycles

As all the comments over here are stating the features of the smart cities,But to build all this infrastructure we need a smart process which can reduce cost and impact the environment in sustainable way.So for all this below stated features and requirement of smart cities if we imply BIM as mandate ,we can reduce the cost and time over which these cities are built and also can make sure that these infrastructures and facilities are managed good over the operational cycle.

1) Prime focus should be on cleanliness and hygiene (For ex:waste management, reconstruction of old bus stand with clean public toilets)
2) Wide clean roads with no pothole,in addition probably flyovers can be constructed to avoid traffic
3) Security to the citizens
4) Digitization : Already Govt is working on this, but citizens are unaware,so they should be educated on the same so that public can utilize the facility provided,in order to avail the benefits of digitization.
