Examination reforms that focus on problem-solving, critical thinking and reasoning skills are critical to improving quality at the secondary level. Such reforms will change the teaching–learning processes and improve learning outcomes. In recent years, CBSE has introduced wide-ranging examination reforms in schools affiliated to it, such as Class X Board Examination has been made optional, Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) has been strengthened so that the students, are assessed on an ongoing basis for their holistic development, a system of grading in place of marks has been introduced. The objectives are to look at the existing systems and suggest reforms which would help better assessment of students.

CCE is good in the way of style of teaching but we should not judge a student in every step he/she makes. Grading behavior skills like innovation, steadiness, teamwork, public speaking etc is not good because every one is different, we cannot expect every one to be a good teamworker or good at public speaker. These skills should be encouraged, not grading it. A final exam should be their to test their knowledge of the subject which include MCQs and testing reasoning capacity of student.

Carrying from my last message , we can take some clues from the Education system of Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Japan which have the most number of Engineering Triumphs to their name. A CORE COMMITTEE should be formed to travel, learn and review the best Education practices used in these countries and try to inculcate them in our own education system , in the similar way we made our constitution by reviewing the constitution of a number of countries.

Our Traditional education system has had SLOW AND INSIGNIFICANT reforms since Independence, Britishers wanted to raise an Army of Clerks and not FREE Thinkers , that is what they did. The UTMOST GOAL OF OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM MUST BE TO INVOKE CREATIVITY , ENCOURAGE FUTURE LEARNING, DEVEOPING THE TO-DO ATTITUDE TO SOLVE, APPLY LOGIC, TRUE SELF DISCOVERY OF INTEREST. We will TOP the world if Children carry this ATTITUDE in their YOUTH. And not the kind of RATTA LAGAO AUR PASS HO JAO THING WE HAVE.

CCE pattern of school-based examinations of CBSE in Class 10 came to the rescue of students with special needs, Dyslexic, Slow learners as well as those who could not perform under pressure. Board Examination for all students in class X will really make education for these special need students. Students interested to compete in Competition or have to go for higher education can appear in Board exams. We must even take care of needs of Special Children.

Our examination system should cover the examination/judging students on personal getup, interpersonal skills including verbal communication skills not restricted to writing papers sitting in exam hall. And, it should be a healthy process.

@Rajesh Misra We can't compare German and Russian with Hindi in any way. Look at the Wikipedia statistics. Number of articles in German is 1,803,862, for Russian its 1,211,427 and for Hindi its only 103,473. Further more they are developed countries and India is still developing and got its independence very recently. Blame our past for not making Hindi as global language. We cannot undo it. Even if we try for it, what are the benefits? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wikipedias

@Rajesh Misra I am not saying that we should not learn Hindi. Hindi or local language should be there till 12th. It has its own importance as a literature subject. Learning a language does not make you slaves. I am just trying to bring equality between Govt and Private education system, so that they can both give quality education. शिक्षा के बाज़ारीकरण के दौर में अच्छी सही और उचित शिक्षा दुर्लभ होती जा रही है। जैसे अध्यापक शिक्षा के क्षेत्र मेँ आते हैं वे शिक्षा मेँ योगदान के लिए नहीँ जाने जाते। उत्कृष्ट विद्यार्थी प्रशासनिक पद पर नियुक्ति के लिए लालायित रहते हैं शिक्षण में आने वाले विद्यार्थी, शिक्षक बनने के लायक नहीँ होते; पर किसी अन्य क्षेत्र में रोजगार न मिलने के कारण 'वीर शिक्षक' बन जाते हैं। पढने और पढ़ाने में रूचि नहीं लेते, सारा दोष छात्र व संरक्षक पर डाल देते हैं। क्लास में काम न करा कर गृह कार्य देना धर्म समझते हैं
