BIRAC (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council) is a Section 8 'Not-for-profit Company' under the Companies Act, 2013 set up by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, and Government of India as an interface agency to promote industry-academia partnerships in the field of Biotechnology. BIRAC over the last five years has initiated several schemes, networks and platforms that help to bridge the existing gaps in the industry –academia innovation research and facilitate novel, high quality, affordable product development through cutting edge technologies.

BIRAC plans to launch BIRAC Innovation Challenge Award which will be a competition that will bring solutions and breakthroughs to a problem that is currently intractable. This award will help solve the problem in a defined time frame and develop an affordable product/solution which is of global excellence. The envisioned areas for the Challenge draw upon the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as Good Health and Sanitation. The indicative areas for suggesting themes for BIRAC Innovation Challenge Award are:

Health: Foster healthy lives and promote well-being of society through development of products especially in medical technology (Devices and diagnostics) which can alleviate healthcare challenges in India. Indications are: reduce maternal and neonatal mortality, end the epidemics of communicable diseases.

Sanitation: Ensures that communities have access to equitable sanitation & hygiene for all and end open defecation.

We invite you to please suggest themes based on the above mentioned areas under which we can launch a challenge to develop functional prototypes leading to globally excellent products & solutions which will render an affordable, faster and impactful solution to critical issues.

Last date of submission is 15th August, 2017

Theme: Detect, Diagnose and Defend. Biotechnology required to boost in direction of mitigating the most deadliest tropical disease like Dengue, Malaria, Chickengunia etc. Huge percentage of India's investment are getting dumped in handling these diseases as traditional methods of detection take golden days of treatment and this led to further delay in treatment. And diagnosis with multiple side effect on other part of body worsen the situation. Biotechnology is proved solution for this.

Theme 10.Suggestions to Increase the pool of Trained doctors, specialists and paramedical staff. Theme 11.Low cost lab kits to reduce costs of medical tests. maintainence of toilets

Theme -1 Using Bio-Technology to ensure proper working of Septic tanks across the country. Theme-2 Using Jatotropha etc to produce bio-diesel in large scale to provide massive employment for farmers and to reduce oil import costs. Theme-3 -Treated sewage water for Irrigation. Theme-4 -Using bio-technology to ensure proper working of toilets and sewage disposal for toilets constructed under swach bharath scheme, like the use of green toilets in trains Theme-5. Many cities in India donot have sewerage system, the individual house holds have septic tanks, many of which are not working and due the sewage is not treated properly and the untreated sewage enters the ground water and pollutes the wells used for drinking water.Please make a theme.Using bio-technology to ensure septic tanks work properly and only the treated sewage is discharged in soak pits to save our wells from sewage pollution and to ensure availability of drinking water

Agriculture is our main strength, foreign people visiting India wonders about the lands but now a days every where building , with in few years we may go for import of grains also which already people are importing from Burma and vegetable , fruits etc., now only few items to be import. I know India import of MOP in a huge amount and spending BIG VOLUME of USD , I am having an innovative details where we can use our own products equal to MOP and can save lot of USD. and also earn.

We have highly educated people t work for other country, like Dr's and Police Govt. have to put a condition to work min 5 years in India, we educate with our Govt. help and USA and other Countries are using them like slaves. Every where value added is must, but whom to tie the knot. Not getting any response only reply forwarded to the connected section. finish the connected section will take care of the revenge.

Dear Sir, Govt. is doing good but the people want every thing free, first cut the free things which is the main lead to the corrupt .Each State calls for investment, and once invested starting killing them via rules and regulations ,if formality is taken care on partnersjip can run the biz. please do the needful and oblige
