The Government has reviewed the existing draft National Youth Policy, 2014 and prepared a new draft National Youth Policy (NYP). The draft NYP envisages a ten - year vision for youth development that India seeks to achieve by 2030. It is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and serves to 'unlock the potential of the youth to advance India'.

The draft NYP seek to catalyze widespread action on youth development across five priority areas viz. education; employment & entrepreneurship: youth leadership & development; health, fitness & sports; and social justice. Each priority area is underpinned by the principle of social inclusion keeping in view the interests of the marginalized sections.

The Department of Youth Affairs seek comments/views/suggestions on the draft NYP from all stakeholders.

Please refer to the policy document: Draft National Youth Policy (PDF 1.23 MB)

The last date to share your ideas and suggestions is 15th July, 2022.

Govt should consider - 1. Educ: Adopting decent behaviours/habits in youth, being updated with correct INFO in their life. Selective chapter of Bhagwat Gita should/can be taught in practical manner by PRAGMATIC teachers. 2. Employ: In schools, they should be taught to produce/build/create something that is valuable in the marketlike handmade crafts, artifacts, etc. [instead of doing lab experiments having no use]. 3. Lead: Enabling them practice HOW TO THINK for long-term overall develop of their self, saathis & surroundings. They have to DETACH their ego & avoid being extremists, neurotic, narcissist etc. 4. Fitness: providing tools of their choice in colleges for playing indoor outdoor games both like archery, bicycling etc. SURYA NAMASKAR be made compulsory in morning, instead of pity. 5. Justice: making them have a balanced perspective on anything they encounter or at least doubt/criticize any idea that they think has faults, even when others disagree. Thank You!

Many youth have placed their hopes only on the Government to provide them jobs. This puts huge stress on the Government. In order to change this old-era thinking, there should be focus on entrepreneurship in the National Youth Policy. Thank you 🙏

Youth ko unki kabliyat se job milni chahiye Arakshan se nhi na hi Rishvat aur sifarish se. Kyuki Arakshan Number me hota h jisse kam number wale youth ko job mil jata h Arakshan ki wajah se . Aur jo job k kabil h wo Youth rah jate h Arakshan karna h to jitni bhi naukri aati h usme Arakshan kr do numbers me nhi karna chahiye Arakshan ki wajah se kam number k yuva ko job mil jata h aur jo kabil h wo rah jata h. Modi ji meri apse request h Arakshan number me na ho. bahut bar Aisa hota h kam Number wale yuva Teacher Ya Doctor ban jate h. unhe khud knowledge nhi hoti wo kya to bachcho ko teach karenge aur kese marijo ka Ilaj karenge.

India is increasingly seeing the growth of liberal arts universities and independent schools. These institutions provide students with broader exposure to societal issues, nurture critical thinking and prepare them for policy-related or management roles in the development sector. The youth are also receiving practical experience in governance through fellowships like the Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates fellowship in Haryana and full-time opportunities like the Young Professionals programme at NITI Aayog. These efforts will be expanded in strategic partnerships with civil society and private entities.

Young people in India need to be inspired to aim higher, aspire for leadership, and invest in self-development. The GoI will launch campaigns across the country to identify and celebrate local heroes and their stories. These campaigns will demonstrate the possibilities and potential paths to achieve them. For those who come from disadvantaged backgrounds held back by cyclical barriers, success stories of role models from similar backgrounds and experiences can help break the cycle. Youth leaders will be identified in each district, and dialogues will be held offline and online to reach a broad cross-section of young people.
