MADAD is an effort of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to extend a helping hand to Indians abroad requiring consular assistance.

MADAD allows direct registration of the grievances by the members of the public and effective monitoring of the grievance handling process thereafter, until it is redressed.

MADAD incorporates several innovative features such as flexible architecture to handle a variety of grievances, linking of similar grievances on the basis of passport number to avoid duplication, automatic escalation and enhancement of priority, provision for a call centre in the future to handle telephonic queries, and colour-coded dashboards for easy assessment and monitoring.

New initiatives like MADAD are being implemented by Ministry of External Affairs to better address consular needs of people through our Missions/Posts abroad. Do you feel these have helped people and led to improved delivery of services? We invite your views/suggestions.

The Indian authorities should enforce strict action against unregulated, unprofessional 'recruitment agents' operating in India who expolit their own people. The 'agents' need to be regulated and prosecuted. They take extortionate 'fees' from the migrant workers who take out loans to pay them.Indians planning to work should be advised of the risks and work conditions abroad and provided with access to information so that they can make an informed choices. These people bring in remittances4India

Female Indian migrant workers in the Gulf States who escape/run away from their abusive 'employers' are often abused/assaulted/raped and injured. They end up in detention centres having to wait for upto 12 months without medical treatment, access to counselling/help or support. They have no one to report/disclose or ways to redress the abuses perpetrated against them.Indian authorities fail to assert or complain to the Gulf countries #MADADService, #MADAD, #MEA, #MinistryofExternalAffairs, #MyGov

#MEA #Ministryof ExternalAffairs #MyGov need to investigate the treatment of their fellow nationals in the detention centres - the detention centres in the Gulf States are inhumane- Indians waiting to be repatriated are kept in appealing conditions - in rooms with upto 400 migrants sharing;no windows,no access to fresh air or exercise. Poor quality of food and water; no access to medical help or treatment. They are treated as prisoners. There only 'crime' is to travel abroad to provide families

The staff at the Indian Missions need to be mindful of the facts that the Indian migrant workers detained for months in detention centres are exploited and abused three times: firstly by the unregulated and unprofessional so called 'recruitment agents' who secure inppropirate visas for them; secondly by the abusive 'employers' who injure/assault/maim/abuse them; thirdly, they are exploited/ignored by their Missions who take months to repatriate them back to India.

In my organisation's experience with Indian Missions in the Gulf States on behalf of Indians desperate to be repatriated to their families in India, the staff at the Indian Missions view their fellow nationals with utter contempt and disrespect. They are unsympathetic to the plight of their fellow nationals who are denied Consular access and legal advice. The staff at the Mission should undergo regular training to serve their fellow nationals as a matter of priority and with urgency.
