The curriculum, right from school, should inculcate the skills that would be needed in adult life. Education should be so designed that encourages cooperation rather than competition, compassion rather than cruelty, tolerance rather than torturous attitude, free-thinking rather narrow mindedness. These skills are needed in future for resolving complicated issues that are in store .Education should not be merely for employment, but should b for the health of the individual & society.

Focus on competency based education. Follow the model of community colleges and polytechnics in this. Rev. Dr. Xavier Alphonse, S.J. has done some great work with community college model. Revamp all assessments in education to follow evidence based certification of skill. Create a unified skills framework based on 21st century skills (http://bie.org/object/document/21st_century_skills_framework) and industry expected skills (like http://www.sscnasscom.com/qualification-pack/SSC/Q0501/)

Craft & Design Education must be promoted at school level so that local/traditional vocational skills can be promoted. This way school education can be later linked to the higher education where "design" as in independent discipline must be recognized. This approach would provide lot of employment opportunities to the youth and skilled craftsman. Another advantage nation would get is that rural youth would get an opportunity to come in the main stream while earning their livelihood.

Breadth in Work-Experience. Under the current curriculum, Work-Experience is taught and students don't really learn by experience per say. Deriving inspiration from Hon'ble Prime Minister's ideology, I suggest that each school takes up an issue in the locality where the school is situated or take up any problem that the city faces and through research and fieldwork, chalk out a plan and find a solution to the problem. Students can be divided into 5-6 groups (subjective to school's strength)

Connecting school with consumerism. Drawings, crafts, exhibits made by students could be sold in public, and students and school can divide the income. In the same way schools can make money by organising arts, science exhibitions and also music, dance competitions. In this way schools can make money on there own and they will also be integrated with the society!
