We R to construct small barrages of say 5 feet high across all streams & small rivers at as many suitable spots as possible. Water is to walk & not to run. These barrages will help to enrich underground water, surface water for irrigation & for public use. Each such dam will help in saving a lot of Electricity now used for pumping water to tanks. During summers, remove sand collected at these spots for local requirements + increase water storage capacity of barrage. Water table will improve

we need to put the mandatory plans to all Gram Panchayats on Water Shed & Check dams Management.and we need to monitor effectively.Because of our dirty politics,Gram Panchayats are not functioning well. They are not spending money on water..simply they are eating money ...and they are giving bribe to their leaders ...So we need to put Effective Constitution Body to maintain the Water Shed Management Board seperately linking with Gram panchayats ..so then atleast 30% - 50% of funds they will spend

Though watershed management is being taken up by many govt but, it is not scientifically implemented. They are involved in only construction of check dams and civil works. In future, more emphasis has to given to in situ soil moisture conservation practices. Irrespective of the ownership of the land, the contour bunds are to be laid. Contour bunding, interbund management practices, gully plugging, stabilization of bunds are to given more importance than mere check dam construction.

Prevent conversion of ponds and lakes into apartments, promote vertical growth of apartments, all lakes and ponds should de-silted during summer using MNREGA funds and this should be done every year. All ponds and lakes should be interconnected. MOU with Israel in Agriculture and defence can be of great help, they are pioneers.

Wasting watershed harvest in go-downs or sack warehouses will not maintain diverse grain and pulse growing activities or provide sustainable livelihoods. NeverIdle storage restores and conserves the ecological balance by moving to where it is needed, keeping harvest off the ground, under a roof and away from rats, birds, insects or mold. Protecting watershed grain and pulse from Postharvest wastage will enable diverse agro-based activities and sustainable livelihoods for rural people.
