At the same time it must be remembered that in most of the places it has turned out to be only a tool in hands of NGO.s to milch Govt. funds with no tangible results. As the ground water level is going on reduced because we are utilized more amour of water. The water is utilized more for agriculture, industries and for our human utility. In our olden ages the kings of India build more ponds, lake and canals. Which is very much useful to harvest the rain and utilized for all purpose and which help to save the rain water. This water harvesting mechanism has been exhausted in future due to improper maintenance.so this should build again and desilting every year

Watershed development and management work should be covered under NREGA programme.along with community welfare this should also be presented as employment opportunity for unemployed youth in the villages.in areas with abundant rainfall large water bodies can be planned to also serve needs of nearby areas with scanty rainfall.village panchayat can generate revenue by fish farming which can help in maintenance of water bodies, this will reduce reliance on govt funds for upkeep of water bodies.

Like swcha Bharat with same vigor all TAL, TALAIYA , POKHARA POKHARI of all the villages of the country specially of north India must be vacated , marked and excavated by Government schemes/local PPP basis/local entrepreneurs . I thing if we have will we can get this job done in maximum one year. Each District collector must be made responsible to insure this without fail.Identification , demarcation , and to make free from encroachment should not take more than one month time .

GREEN INDIA : Recently, there is lot of emphasis on Solar and Wind energy as part of Project Green India and rightly so. However there is no discussion on Gobar Gas generation and utilization. Actually there is lot of demand for organic fertilizer and Gobar Gas and can be useful in remote areas. It can generate its economy in terms of construction of equipment and utilization of gas and fertilizer. Also villages have the largest number of animals. It is necessary to design a business model.
