Waste management is an important requirement for ecologically sustainable development. Efficient sorting of waste is a major issue in today’s society. The main goals of this discussion are to come up with solutions for the following problems using technology as a tool.

1) Reducing waste production
2) Ensuring that wastes are properly disposed
3) Recycling and re-using disposed products

“Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” or the "Clean India Mission" is India's biggest cleanliness campaign that aims to accomplish the vision of "Clean India". Waste management is an integral part of this campaign. To assist the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” initiative, projects may be setup to create products which are solar-powered trash receptacle and trash compactor that alerts sanitation crews of municipal authorities, when it is full.

Also E-Waste (obsolete, discarded, broken and surplus electrical and electronic devices) is of immediate and long term concern as the industry is unregulated and recycling can lead to major environmental degradation posing a major threat to human health.

Internet of Things (IoT) is a new generation technology which allows integration of small devices/gadgets with web based system .The devices send signals through sensors using constraint application protocol (CoAP), Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) etc. and interact with the web-based system using the HTTP protocol, So the existing solution architectures are getting extended.

We would like to welcome your ideas on how a smart waste management system using IoT can be implemented in order to achieve the target of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”.

I think there should be complete seperation of final disposition of the debris especially coming out of e-waste. Residential societies should be made responsible for collection of e waste then handing the ward communities ultimately to the vendors who can safely re cycle the same. Also, there should be provision of penalising the societies for non adherence of rules

i think it's best to allot small land outside the smart city/cities some three land at different side or the biological goes one side other goes opposite side the mixture will be added with soil, which is to be used as fill building base. #smartwastemanagement it could be sold, you need to take control on building base material or partnership with some of the company's such as "soma"

Make it compulsary for flats to collect degradable waste like food waste. Every city should have a collection unit which dumps the waste to biogas plant and generate revenue. Revenue should be shared with the apartments. This system is tried ( govt requested to segregate dry and wet waste) but is not happening because 1. People are not educated and no interesting factor. Revenue sharing might bring some interest 2. Collection unit is not strict. plastic in waste? fine should be imposed

I always feel all the temples and other religious places generate a large amount of biodegradable waste which is always dumped in the water body dipleating it's quality. If these temples start their own biogas plants then the problem of waste as well as electricity will get solved. So if something in terms of incentives are given then they may take up the task.Even the fertilizer produced will be organic.

Using Data as collected above: 1) reduction in collection cost can be achieved as now the authorities will know which Bins are not full 2) Areas generating more waste can be known. Targeted campaigns can then be run to ensure low waste generation instead of the current generalized campaigns which are costlier as well 3) overflowing of the Bins can be reduced as the frequency of collection from high waste generating areas can be increased

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan must be taken up by school and college students once every 3 months. By doing this they will understand the importance of cleanness. Bio-toilets must be made compulsory in homes, hospitals and offices. THis will reduce the sewage comtant and will also keep the rivers pure. All the dump yards must be cleared by recycling the plastic waste and giving the biodegradable waste to agriculture.

बाकी सारे waste से तो baiogas बनाया जा सकता है जीससे electricity बनाई जा सकती है. इस तरह से हम ८० percent waste को किसी न किसी तरह से use कर सकते है. अविनाश सूर्यवंशी
