According to Wikipedia, “Waste management is the “generation, prevention, characterization, monitoring, treatment, handling, reuse and residual disposition of solid wastes”. There are various types of solid waste including municipal (residential, institutional, commercial), agricultural, and special (health care, household hazardous wastes, sewage sludge).”

E-waste awareness should be a separately highlighted as for even simple devices with PCB gets into the garbage. maybe the collection of the same is challange (last mile) which can be at or near a petrol pump.

We as government should understand that even if we want to through waste at any location or market there are not bare minimum dustbins. It should be taken with pinch of salt by the government to first place in the where with all and then start penalising the defaulters. We have to start penalising. If we can behave in aircrafts, rwstaurants, own homes, then we can behave outside also its just lack of facilities and lack of fear of penalities. We have to come out of vote bank politics

I think its high time that muncipal corporation and govt agencies responsible for the management of disposal of all kinds are made accountable. Till the time their is no accountability and their pay and emoulments are not work related we as indian will not perform. We are the same people who perform in private sector outside the country.
Therefore please have accountability.
In addition it should be understood that making and increasing public awarweness is always systematic.

The usual method being followed in India of dumping garbage on the road corners for being collected and again dumped in landfills is the worst possible method of waste management. Smaller centres where segregation takes place and wet waste is processed are the need of the hour. It will also create self-employment opportunities linked to selling of processed waste.

Nothing will work unless citizens participate. And that will come initially from fines and penalties, but in the medium to long term it will come from awareness and voluntary participation. Littering has been inbuilt into our psyche. It is ok to litter in India and it is the responsibility of the municipal authority to clean up the mess I create. This first has to change. One has to have an ownership, a belonging to the city, town or village we live in. I need to feel a sense of pride.
