Overview:-

The Internet of Things (IoT) can transform the agriculture industry and enable farmers to contend with the enormous challenges they face. The industry must overcome increasing water shortages, limited availability of lands, fertility of lands difficult to manage cost, while meeting the increasing consumption needs of a global population that is expected to grow by 70% by 2050.

Objective:-

New innovative IoT applications will address these issues and help in increasing the quality, quantity, sustainability and cost effectiveness of agricultural production. For example, leverage IoT can be leveraged to allow the farmers to evaluate the soil conditions, moisture level, livestock feed levels density and level of pest control. say if the level of pest control exceeds prescribed range, through sensors alarm and alerts can be generated to warn the farmers to take actions.

The purpose of “Smart Farming” is to increase the quality and quantity of agricultural production by using sensing technology to make farmers more intelligent and more connected.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on:

• How an individual or an organization may contribute to Smart Farming.
• Experiences and challenges in using technology as a tool in farming.
• Practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of the future of farming- “Smart Farming” using IoT

I would like to suggest few steps for improving water resources availability in hills of Uttarakhand. I belong to Pauri Garhwal District in Uttarakhand. I have noticed that in hills, the forests and hills have been forested with Cheed trees. Cheed is a tree which sucks water out of the land and dries up the land. The local variety "Banjh" is a tree which is good for the hills and it has capacity to hold water in its roots. Banjh should be promoted by forest department for forests.

Respected Sir, While cutting timber tree planted by farmer he need to take all sort of permission which take time around year to avoid that they sell it to some third party with 2000Rs for 10 year old tree which may garner him 10-15000 if he sell this directly in market. Can we make taking permission to cut timber easy for farmers. We can link it to AADHAR of that farmer and while cutting tree he just need to use AADHAR card to take permission. It will help farmer financially.

Smart farming will be implemented with involvement of young people. Make it as industry and optimum utilisation of resources like soil information, latest farming equipment, cost, rent and utilities, types of crops suitable to the environmental conditions, in case of any problems in the crop growth the remedies all these activities should be made available centrally either in app mode or village level. Like medicos agri students also do practice in fields at all villages and share their views.
