One of the important endeavors of the present government has been to improve the 'Ease of Living'. In simple words, this means that the citizen-government interface, in matters of daily routine, must be made as seamless as possible and as citizen friendly as possible. Among other things, this has translated into reforming many rules and regulations and in an overwhelming number of cases completely doing away with such antediluvian rules which had not only outlived their utility, but in many cases were frankly anti-people. The mandate has been clear - between the citizens and the governments, the rules and processes must defer to ensuring the ease of living of citizens.

Consider for example the earlier rule of seeking gazetted officers attestation to validate one's documents before appearing in exams. That rule is now history. Trusting the citizens was the mandate and self-attestation is now the new rule. Or consider the move to scrap interviews for non-gazetted Group D, C and B government jobs. In one stroke the entire industry of 'recommendations' has been shut down and pure merit has become the norm.

What are other such outdated and ill-conceived rules, regulations or practices that hinder the normal day to day lived experience of the people? In day-to-day governance issues what are the processes or system that can be simplified or simply done away with? Which are processes that serve the exact opposite purpose they are intended to serve? Rules, regulations and laws that serve no useful social purpose but merely create unnecessary red tape and bureaucracy and therefore need to go?

MyGov invites citizens, members of civil society, journalists, students, teachers, police officers, government employees, Parliamentarians, academics experts, bureaucrats, social media influencers, Think Tanks and all other interested people to give their considered view on the subject.

Dear sir, You are doing publicity for using of “generic medicines” by citizens of India to be increased. Citizens are confusing for identifying generic and branded bi-furcation. Most venders ( mostly shops attached to doctors) are cheating by collecting MRP printed on the pack. So that they are earning abnormal profits. Why don’t you instruct generic medicines producers(companies) to print a universal symbol for generic medicines or let them print actual generic price.

No other country provides range social schemes/benefits for people like India. Unfortunately, implementation of schemes is worst. In many instances, people living in remote villages are clueless about the schemes either run by the center or the state. govt. A single helpline number/customer service center should be established for all the govt schemes for better public outreach. It's important to inculcate a sense of responsibility/facilitation in govt employees, not a tendency to piss off.

It is important that all government institutions, national banks, and other government agency become people friendly. 1) Govt departments should be able to provide a handbook/flyer/pamphlet of current rules and regulations and application procedures. 2) It must be mandatory for the departments to provide receipt/ acknowledgment for any application submitted, with a timeline for decision/followup. Especially in the banks. 3) If an application is rejected, a proper reason should be cited.

If the complications are removed the ease of life automatically comes. Excessive Politico-Bureaucratic interference in the lives of citizens create complications in their living. These interference should be reduced the lives of citizens will automatically become easy. For example Aadhaar is should be only to provide Indian identity to citizen. Once it is given to a citizen Aadhaar Number should be used for identity and not linking it with transaction each time with bio-metrics.

1. Rules / Laws made without requisite infrastructure or support to implement the same will always lead to inefficient Government systems. 2. Best policy for efficient Government systems is to have minimum Rules / Laws. Human interaction between a Citizen and Government agent (Employee or hired) opens the gate for corruption. [RTO / Police with whom there is regular public interaction remain the most corrupt parts of Government.]
