One of the important endeavors of the present government has been to improve the 'Ease of Living'. In simple words, this means that the citizen-government interface, in matters of daily routine, must be made as seamless as possible and as citizen friendly as possible. Among other things, this has translated into reforming many rules and regulations and in an overwhelming number of cases completely doing away with such antediluvian rules which had not only outlived their utility, but in many cases were frankly anti-people. The mandate has been clear - between the citizens and the governments, the rules and processes must defer to ensuring the ease of living of citizens.

Consider for example the earlier rule of seeking gazetted officers attestation to validate one's documents before appearing in exams. That rule is now history. Trusting the citizens was the mandate and self-attestation is now the new rule. Or consider the move to scrap interviews for non-gazetted Group D, C and B government jobs. In one stroke the entire industry of 'recommendations' has been shut down and pure merit has become the norm.

What are other such outdated and ill-conceived rules, regulations or practices that hinder the normal day to day lived experience of the people? In day-to-day governance issues what are the processes or system that can be simplified or simply done away with? Which are processes that serve the exact opposite purpose they are intended to serve? Rules, regulations and laws that serve no useful social purpose but merely create unnecessary red tape and bureaucracy and therefore need to go?

MyGov invites citizens, members of civil society, journalists, students, teachers, police officers, government employees, Parliamentarians, academics experts, bureaucrats, social media influencers, Think Tanks and all other interested people to give their considered view on the subject.

Managing traffic rules is a tough task for the traffic police and people do not like policing! My view is empower the common man to control this. Create a system wherein if someone breaks the signal, doesnt follow rules, anyone who notices it could click a picture of that vehicle(with the number plate) and send it to some whatsapp group/number etc. With the help of camera, the traffic police could decide if that was an actual miss, then challan to be given to that person. It may need further thought

Do not give long holidays to courts. They are not schools. Increase the working days if courts will improve justice and thereby ease the life of common man to some extent

Hon. PM desired to check corrupt activities of Chartered Accountants(CA). My suggestion is to amend the definition of Public Servants. Include CA's in the definition of Public Servants as far as their audit work is concerned. This'll make them answerable under Prevention of Corruption Act. They will think thousand times before indulging in any unwarranted activity to manipulate audit report or tax.

The Digital Driving License under the Digilocker was introduced way back , but no police accept it. Instead we pay a Fine amount of Rupees 500 - 1000 , just for the sake of using a goverment's Scheme. The Payment of College fee also has become a great burden. Most Colleges in my State Collect Fees in the name of Non-Receipt Amount , they just write it in a notebook. Instead a Centralised Payment Portal for all Registered Universities/Colleges can be made available.

Talking about Mumbai in particular. We have lots of schools in Mumbai, almost one in eahc by-lane. Which is a good thing in terms of the choices that we have. However, these private schools create a lot of chaos on the public roads during the start and dismissal of kids. In my opinion, it should be a mandate for private schools to have parking lots - a proportionate one in the basement. This mandate should be applied to all institutions like colleges, hospitals, restaurants, etc.
