Engineers, no doubt are contributing greatly to development by designing novel products for making the lives of the people easy and convenient, but, this in no way can overshadow the intellectual capabilities of youth from other stream of studies. Social sciences and humanities have an equally important role to play in nation building. For example- an engineer can invent a smart card or robot or an app for a smart phone using his technical mind, but, people from social sciences or humanities..

Continued:2. Only youth having a science background and a scientific temper or engineers can contribute towards the development of a nation. Scientific temper is construed and understood to be synonymous with having a degree in science stream. It should not be interpreted narrowly. Scientific temper having an innovative mind to provide plausible solutions for solving societal problems and improving the quality of life of the people.

In India, particularly, the problem with realizing the full potential of the youth is multi-fold and is based on some erroneous presumption which are described below: 1. Only those youth who are civil servants or qualify the prestigious civil services (IAS) examination with an all encompassing syllabus can become better policy planners and be the steel frames for strong nation building.

The youth in any part of the world are inquisitive, full of verve and are amenable. Their active and direct participation in the policy making and governance process is therefore a sine-qua-non for true development and full realization of democracy. Unfortunately, youth are often sidelined in the formal decision making process.

I think we should put every thing on hold for now but to fully concentrate on our defense. We should upgrade our technological infrastructure to support our soldiers. Personally, I can be without electricity and water for another 5 years. Don't want good roads or even clean Gangaji till the time my fellow citizen and soldiers are loosing their lives daily in the hands of terrorists/naxalites. Urgently need to do something. Please......

The key is transparency. The youth needs to feel the whole system is merit based. Rigth now as a youth there is no clarity as to how people progres in politics, the popular opinion is by being a bootlicker and some acts of hooliganism that gets you on the party radar. What needs to be done is having public debates, group discussions, community task and there the participant can display their intelllectual acumen, they drive for working for the society and their ability to work with a team.
