The availability of reliable quality and affordable electricity helps in the rapid agriculture, industrial and overall economic development of a State/U.T. In its endeavour to develop Chandigarh as a Smart City, the Chandigarh Administration is committed to improve the quality of life of its residents by providing access to electricity round the clock i.e. 24x7 to all the Villages, Colonies and Sectors of U.T., Chandigarh.

The methodology to bring reforms in the distribution of power supply has to be developed in consultation with various stakeholders of the city. The Engineering Department, Chandigarh Administration is responsible for supply of electricity in U.T., Chandigarh. As of now almost all the area getting sufficient power supply throughout the day, but still there is some of the shadow area in which power supply is problematic. Chandigarh Administration would ensure that all the necessary steps are taken in terms of power procurement, strengthening the required transmission and distribution network, energy efficiency measures, undertaking customer centric initiatives, reduction of losses, grievance redressal, etc.

Therefore, Chandigarh Administration would welcome ideas, views, opinions and suggestions from all its residents so that objective of 24x7 quality, reliable and affordable electricity for all could be achieved.

CCD cameras for monitoring traffic, weather & security should be installed at various locations and main roads. Personnel behind the computer should be trained to handle & analysis the data, else it would negate the investment.

ISPs and cable TV providers should be asked to make their cables underground. Overhead cables gives an ugly look to skyline. At times the cables are crossing the public parks and there is no proper infrastructure has been made for running cable.

Following are my suggestions, 1) To reduce the power thefts, UT should install CTPT electronic meters on each transformer, which will give accurate account of input & output no of power units per transformer. Make the concerned JEs/SDOs responsible for it. 2) Install solar panels on the terrace of CHB block units. This can be utilized to power auto sensing street lights, parks and other similar services. 3) UT must seriously consider harvesting rain water by engaging very good academic inst

Wind turbines can help India a lot. However, the regional efficiency must be studied before implementation. Please follow the link: http://www.science.com/researchers-are-now-hanging-wind-turbines-underneath-bridges

every house produces degradable waste,so we can couple two or three streets and can produce bio fuel with waste and can also make electricity through it by using bio fuel runed generator

The simple way to reduce the power thefts are first to find how the theft work. Then the simple way is to install a online commercial meter to every 11kv line before it terminates to a transformer which further step it down to 220 volt which inturn goes to our houses. So now all we have to make a simple rule, just have to match the readings on meter installed at the transformer N the sum of all the other meters installed at the houses which should always be equal when there is no theft. The main thing is the theft is only at 220volts line n not on 11kv line.. So this way all the meter readers, line man, Inspectors N JE's will can't do corruptions.

Every Indian face electricty theft/loss is a major issue. I Saw loose connection and poor End Joints make situation more Worst As every theft is done through " Kundi" Connection. So to Rectify the problem we have to Get Proper Electricity Feed/Joint/Connection medium or Standard Connectors on Every Poll and Joints. We have to Source Technology form Developed Countries for Proper Connections/Joints/Connectors. I think we can save 15-20% Electricity by proper and Standard Joinst and Connection

Dear Sir, 1. Please privatize distribution and transmission departments. They will improve service and increase efficiency. 2. Please stop subsidy model in urban areas. 3. Please stop using differential electricity tariff rates e.g rate must be 5 rs/unit .irrespective of usage. Because cost of generation and distribution is not differential . This is one of major reasons for losses of discoms 4. Encourage generation of electricity using micro solar and wind systems.
