With a dramatic growth in elementary education enrolments and improvements in retention and transition rates in recent years, particularly amongst the more disadvantaged groups, there is an increasing pressure on the secondary schools to admit more students. With the enforcement of RTE Act and further improvement in retention and transition rates, demand for secondary schooling will grow rapidly in the coming years. The objective of this discussion group is to assess to what extent we have made quality education available, accessible and affordable to the target population in the age group of 14–18 years. How we can increase access to post elementary education across the country in a manner so as to ensure no child is denied the opportunity of completing his/her school education. In particular, how can we address the geographical and social disparities in secondary education?

As all know there is reservation category at every steps of Indian life, even the noble profession HEALTH SCIENCE education, MAHARASHTRA has 53% category reservation, above MARATWADA, VIDARBHA reservations. This reservation category should increase to 80% to 90% & the rest for the richer class so that there are more reservation category & richer class students. the middle class to search education to other countries and serve then.

I think government should make a big project for increasing number and infrastructure of secondary schools. For this government should invite private companies for investment in a tax relaxation policy. Also staff is big problem, they must make a part-time job offer by performance based increase in job time, by these unemployment also may decrese.

Fact is teaching proffession is the last choice from the career point of view. Few reasons behind it is mentioned below (which I personally have observed) 1) Low pay scale 2) Additional duties being given (i.e. election duty, cencus works, door to door form filling for any new scheme launched by govt, etc) 3) poor infrastructure of govt schools 4) no provision for paying wages being paid so that to upgrade themselves to step up with latest tech
