Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

Suggestions- Part-2 3. Families which are consistently using less power for 3-months (based on current bills some modality can be worked out) shall be appointed as LED-Mitra for a month & be given LED bulbs for ensuing month. Identification of such families can be done my state power distr'n company & this can be done on per-municipality basis.

Following are my suggestions: 1. For every girl enrolled in school or for every toilet constructed at home, sanction an LED on the girl name. Children tend to adhere to initiatives more than adults. 2. Every locality which ensures utmost cleanliness shall be provided with LEDs sufficient for a year lighting.
