LPG is a dominant cooking fuel of urban population and also, steadily penetrating in rural areas replacing other traditional sources of fuel which included fire wood, cow dung, coal, etc.

There are nearly 17 crore LPG consumers in the country with average refill of 35 lakh cylinders per day. The reach of LPG connections as well as providing timely services to the consumers has always kept in pace with the technological innovations. Provision of timely services and attending the grievances of the consumers continues to be critical for consumers’ satisfaction.

Available Web as well as Mobile phone based applications are extensively used to enable the new customers to get LPG connections and the existing customers to avail services. The Ministry has been taking all measures to leverage the Digital India initiative to make it more consumers friendly.
Presently, following citizen friendly services are being offered for the prospective and existing LPG consumers.

•Book Cylinder through IVRS -– allows consumer to book refill through their registered mobile number.
•Track Refill – It’s both Web and App based facility which shows consumer last 3 booking & delivery date
•Know Your Distributor –Web based facility provides distributor name, address, contact no , Sales officers name & email id
•Talk to Us – connects to call centre managed round the clock.
•Request for 2nd cylinder – allows consumer with single cylinder connection to request for additional cylinder.
•Mechanic Service – allows consumer to register request for mechanic service.
•Surrender connection – allows consumer to register request for surrendering connection.
•Rate your distributor – allows consumer to rate distributor on 5 service parameters, which enables the consumer to ascertain the quality of services provided by the distributor.
•Bank Detail – allows consumer to update Bank details for becoming Cash Transfer Complaint to avail the subsidy under ‘PaHal’ scheme.
•Opt out of Subsidy – provides option to ‘GiveItUp’ of LPG subsidy.
•Feedback Status – allows consumer to check status of any feedback submitted earlier

Ministry further wants to bring new innovations/improvement in services provided with an aim to enhance ‘quality’ of the services provided and transparency in transactions. Therefore, suggestions/creative inputs are solicited from the all the stakeholders on improving the services using communication platforms.

while transferring gas connection locally or between cities, the process should be 100% on-line and only step manually should be handing over cylinders and regulator. As the agencies ask money usually Rs. 50 / Rs. 100 with no receipts. At least domestic should be done as there is not cylinder return involved

For giving up subsidy, it is said that with that money a poor family will be given with LPG connection. To motivate and support this, inform those who given up subsidy about their give up helped in giving connection to which family by mentioning their names and state. Create online complaint system to complain about service or any other issues.

Please create a system to send delivery confirmation SMS to the registered mobile number. If delivery is not done due to any reason, it also can be sent through SMS. Like Flipkart and any other online markets, distributor can send an SMS on the day of delivery at morning time mentioning the estimated time of delivery with delivery person mobile number so that customer can be available in home at that time and can contact the delivery person if required.

LPG gas services should be available to all the citizen of India without any control over it. In the rural area, LPG may not be affordable to the people,as they are using fire wood, cow dung, which is available them at free of cost or very nominal at rural area. but, special subsidy for fuel stove should be given to such class of people, so, they can start to use LPG. further, subsidy is the main element to such poor class people, hence, it should be given quickly in bank a/c.,

Citizens have many facilities of booking for LPG gas & it is a good idea to give up subsidy for rural India as many people in rural India are cooking on logs of wood, cow dung etc & it is not hygienic for them to cook on logs of wood or cow dung but the idea of giving of subsidy should be optional & it should be an according to an individual will, if an individual wants to give up subsidy he/she will give up subsidy. This law should not be compulsory for everyone.

Government can bring a Smart Card system to prevent misuse of domestic cylinders. While delivering cylinder the delivery boy must carry a small electronic machine to Swipe the card as proof.Once they Swipe the card the details of the delivery time and Cash Memo must be sent as e mail or SMS to . This method will prevent delivery boys giving the cylinders for rotation. Also it will prevent gas agencies selling cylinders in black market. Please try to implement this system.
