Corporation of Chennai is preparing a proposal towards Smart City Challenge which would include city wide smart urban solutions as well as identification of areas within the city for its implementation.

The proposal would be defined primarily based on voice of Chennai residents. An extensive citizen engagement programme is established by Corporation of Chennai to document the views and concernsfor the same.

Residents may post their opinion and ideas on civic services such as transport, parking, water supply, sanitation, energy, housing, IT solutions, health, education, safety and security. Your views, opinion and solutions on urban issues faced by Chennai would not only support a better tomorrow for Chennaites, it will also make Chennai a strong contender for getting shortlisted as one of the first 20 cities in India to implement Smart City Solutions in Phase 1.

Chennai citizen and community is its biggest strength. Let’s participate to make this proposal inclusive and meaningful for every common man, every citizen.

The last date to submit your comments is 15th November, 2015.

Dear Sirs, Overnight we cannot change the people's mentality or the city. Awareness have to be brought into the minds of everyone by motivation, educating them of the merits and demerits, making them participate in activities and then enforcing the rules strictly. All depatments must unite. After laying the new roads only, digging is started for Drainage, Water Supply, Telephones, etc. Who is at fault. People must realize, unite and everyone should wish for a change.

Hi, First of all thanks for giving me this opportunity to express my ideas. The below mentioned are my personal opinion if anybody doesn't like or hurts your feelings,I'm really sorry for that. My suggestions: 1) compulsory solar panels or small wind mill on apartments. 2) compulsory trees on apartment and tech park based on its size atleast rooftop plants. 3) Multi level parking. 4) limit number of vehicle per house. 5) Make chennai plastic free. Thank you :)

1. Observe and enforce- cleanliness (you do it once you go outside the country!), Instruct and enforce traffic rules, cover all uncovered sand on sides of road; 2. Devise and enforce rain water harvesting in buildings, public areas 3. Every area should have play grounds and theme parks. Restric Building permit. This city can not bear any more haphazard and uncontrolled, dense building construction. Any City Planning now or is there not? ? Anybody? 4. Ban posters- these make the city look

Sir, garbage disposal & recycling needs urgent consideration. Most land fills are over used & the casualty is open dumping / burning of waste- some toxic, unauthorised filling of marsh lands leading to soil degradation & decreasing quality of ground water. Unless, concrete steps are urgently taken with active public participation to source segregate waste, proper disposal mechanisms & possible recycling of waste, this burgeoning city will sooner rather than later, face a civic cleanliness issue.

Sir, we are blessed with a long coastline. However, the sea face & back waters are not utilised optimally for recreation or eco-conservation. Given the security of Kalpakkam, the rest of the area upto Sadras can be developed as week end getaways, especially with the the 20 to 50 age group dominating. The only recreation at present are cinema, malls & theme parks. If not an Atlantic city (minus the casinos), a modern city needs recreational centers. Water sports too can be part of this scheme.

All roads should be 6 lane in Chennai which has such a high population. Cleanliness should be maintained. People should be educated and restricted from throwing garbage in public. Fines should be collected for violation. Nobody in Chennai cares about traffic rules. People have such a bad attitude on road. Strict rules should be followed and fines should be collected. Chennai needs to compete with other cities in the world and not with our neighbouring cities to become a global city.

We need to remove all dirt first to make a city look smart.. We should recruit many people to clean the streets..Place a garbage tank every 1km in road.Anyone putting garbage on road, pissing and spitting on road should be made to pay fine.we can use that to pay the garbage collectors.also use 1% of property tax to pay the labourers. Also dust comes from the uncovered sand in sideways of road.We should cover that sand either with the road itself or can use plastic r rubber 2 cover it..jaihind
