While the idea of Chennai Corporation to make Chennai a smart city, and every one living in Chennai would want his/her city a smart one in all respects, is it possible at all, even if the civic body makes all out efforts to make A SMART ONE. The word impossible may sound strange, but then, we have to look at the realities. What is the condition of Chennai today. Filth and dirt are inseparable in Chennai. Building violations, non-implementation of fire safety norms, encroachment galore.

Railway connectivity from Thiruvotriyur railway station to proposed Madhavaram Metro station (CMRL PHASE II ) via MFL junction leads good connectivity for North Chennai residents since there is a industrial railway track exist and links two Industrial corridors viz Thiruvotriyur and Ambattur.
Consider to construct small water dam near Amullaivoil to save draining of Puzhal lake water during rainy season as lot of excess water let off via this canal to Bay of Bengal during Monsoon period.

There should not be any welding, cutting and sound making companies around the housing sites and the existing companies should be asked to relocate their workshops

The goat and chicken slaughter houses around the housing sites to be relocated so as to enable the people to enjoy the clean environment since the daily debris from the slaughter houses clogging the drain canals and the drain water unable to flow to the end location.

The following points to be considered for the essential features of Chennai.
1.The city street roads are to be excavated and brought down to the original height in order to avoid rain water entering to the individual houses. The roads were raised due to frequent road contract given to the local contractors in contrary to the standing rules which states that the contractors should remove the old damaged material before laying the roads.

Chennai must concentrate on garbage, water bodies to change into green, clean, clean health air city.50% of all garbage is organic wastes.Like rain water harvesting,Chennai must enforce ECOPOT garbage garden in all homes in balconies, roof tops.http://indiawater.gov.in/misc/MISC_AdvApp.aspxSl no 95 Ecopots has details.
TN must fund new technologies.SB has allows this. Garbage gardens cheaper than landfill costs, gives food, fresh air&O2.Health, money, happiness, less pesticide cancers too.
