Shortlisted as one of the smart cities, Bhubaneswar today is a model of livability evident by the city’s stable growth rate in the recent decades. On the other hand, the city faces challenges that are negative consequences of urbanization faced by many cities. We now suffer from a growing threat to losing our open spaces to urban sprawl, increasing private vehicle ownership, and recently being ranked 25th among the 28 state capitals under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The challenge now before us - in shaping the Bhubaneswar for the next generation - is to strategically leverage our strengths as we grow, while turning around the negatives. With your participation, the Bhubaneswar Smart City Proposal will provide solutions to ensure a sustainable, inclusive and resilient future for all its citizens. In order to succeed in this ambitious mission. WE need YOU!

We invite the residents of Bhubaneswar to share their views and thoughts on the most pressing challenges that the citizens face to turn Bhubaneswar into a Smart City?

one of the most crucial and important area to deal with is the heritage part of bhubaneswar. Not only it is old but also congested, narrow and unclean with lack of proper drainage and electric wire line.Proper streetscaping and conservation of old temples and house should be done.

If we are going to live in a smart city we need to be smart that means we have to think smartly we have to do our job smartly. It is not the only responsibility of the govt to make a city smart the main factor which make a city smart is its citizen. Govt is the only governing body so my suggestion is rather complaining start doing small small thing that i will not spread any garbage in the road, i will not smoke in a public place, i will not cross the speed limit, i will obey traffic rules.

Excusing myself to the men’s room, however, I discover that Calafia Café has a major technology problem. Despite the pedigree of its clientele, the smart toilet doesn’t work. As I stare hopefully at the stainless steel throne, a red light peering out from the small black plastic box that contains the bowl’s “brains” blinks at me fruitlessly. Just above, a sign directs an escape path.
