Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

As far as Tourism is concerned I feel that rural India is more beautiful and environment friendly to all finds of tourists. We the people of India too can contribute by keeping the surroundings clean putting up tourist attraction in the form of home made food available and cheap accommodation to both domestic and international tourists. Cheap transport like bullock carts, also will attract tourists. I am a Goan and rural Goa is very beautiful and attractive with various facilities.

namaskara 🙏 There are many tourism place in villages. Greenary of villages are natural so no need of artificial decorations. But we need to improve the roads transportation and accommodation facilities. By these people will get attracted and hence we can also increase the economy of our country. There are many water falls rivers, temples, forts and small mountains. Nature is beautiful but they are not clean which is made by us . It should be maintained clean by taking some strict rules.

Fresh breathing is possible in Rural India. For Good health you must visit villages in remote and hill stations as well. This gives your lungs t breathe fresh and thin air. You may be surpised to know the new terminology as THIN AIR . But, belive me, there is very less pollution of air quality and Rural Gram area. ..thus the Thin air, which is easy to breathe. More oxygen will help improve Immunity and better health. Tourism in Rural India can give chance to Urban people to mix up .

In India the very places where we find less pollution...so we can make VILLAGE theme oriented like River view village,Lake view village,Mountain village and so on...depending on the locality the theme has to be highlighted, grooved and minimum facilities to the coming tourists have to be provided by the Government hotels like Haritha hotels and villagers too must be guided, trained for selling their own products of their local with minqimum tax like SWAYAVIKRAYA...scheme....tq...

Please spare villages from consumerism. They are thriving on differential caste systems and prospering amongst the diversity, untouched by the so called modernism which promotes feelings of discontent and calls out negative aspects more louder than the positive ones. The people need good connectivity, good education. Not tourism. It will distract the potentials of growth. It not a good idea. This calls for investment but there are various opportunities for investment besides this.

Namaste As we all know India is said the 'country of villages' and we have about 6 lakhs villagers. To increase tourism in villages we should dedicate some village to improve their infrastructure and make resorts with all facilities but with culture of that place. This will attract more tourist towards them. They must make restaurant with their special cultural food. I think this would definitely work and make us proud of India. 🇮🇳Jai Hind, Jai Bharat 🇮🇳

Though I am away from the subject, I would like to insist upon keeping the airports very clean. As the sun light can not enter into the buildings, different kinds of bacterias develop easily, especially in the toilets, resting rooms of Lounge ( which is compactly closed from the public halls and couloirs ). The food , breakfast offered in the lounge ( in the Delhi airport ) is very unclean and old. The contamination costed me 3 weeks to find out that I have a problem and then follows the rest
