The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

Aaj aapne mankibaat me nashe ke baare me baat ki, Nasa aaj ek trah ka fashion banta ja raha hai, aaj bahut badi shankhya me yuva nashe ki traf ja rahe hai. Agar hume isko rokna hai to sabse phale hume ase teacher tyar karne honge jo is se bahut dur ho. Guru Nanak Dev G ne kaha tha, agar hume kisi vayakti ki koi burai khatam karni hai to vo burai pahle apne andar se khatam karo, tab use vyakti se us burai ko khatam karne ki kosis karo.Apni gurukul parampara bhi isi theory par base thi.

Class room environment is the starting point for any skill training program which has to be supplemented by on the job training/apprenticeship. this can be done by adopting Industrial Training Institute (ITI). for effective implementation, ITIs should be made autonomous under the control of a Board. The board membership would be given to volunteers having the attitude towards training the younger generation to take up the future skill needs of the country.
