The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

To make India clean, prosperous and strong, we need huge capital. We are aware that once the complete population gets past into the boundary of 'Above Poverty Line' how much resources are needed to sustain the country in this category. Per capita consumption of of water, electricity, food & utility items will shoot up at least double from present day consumption. To meet this challenge need of the hour is to evolve system for rationing of water, electricity and fuel items and implement it imdtly

Respected Sir, The best way to develop skills be it in mining or any field, is apprenticeship or on the job training. Unfortunately most of our colleges / institutes (except few) concentrate only on theory without any hands on exposure which is a severe disadvantage in our education system. We need to really make changes in our education system and give more importance to practical's (like in medical profession)

One Important thing we miss is school. To develop a real intrest in mining or any other sector we need to make a open view from school level . Some seminars should be on the site itself to purge out the intrest among kids, rather not as a field which becomes the last option after clearing exams . May schools of America and EU have mini-share markes at school level in which kids invest virtual money to have fun and learn, why cant we have this. Lets convince schools to explore more areas

The Interest rates are pretty high to be viable ,, Central Banks acrorss the world are reducing interest rates and our RBI governor taking the shelter of inflation is still carrying out the policy of high interest rates.. In the process poor are becoming poor and rich becoming richer...Interest rate has to come down ,, to create growth and employment .. Inflation cannot be controlled by bank rate... Low interest regime will make bank credit viable and spur growth give poor the jobs

Our Basic questions are Can a common trader or manufacturer ( who represent 80% of business class community in india) get Money from PSU Bank ? Even if yes with so much difficulty the most important question is ,, Is this finance viable in the context of low Economic growth which our nation had from last five years? The answer is clear “No” . Our RBI governor has killed our business environment along with PSU Banks who are having rising NPA problem ....Please PM sir ,, intervene....

Both qualification and filed training are a must. Look at the rate at which accidents are taking place, especially in coal mines. A small fire can devastate entire blocks and population on ground. Skills on survival of self and fellow workers is the first step and then crisis management should trickle down to the actual worker and not remain cinfined to engineers, etc alone. Efficient working of equipment is second. In fact as a Civil engineer I am proud to state that I learnt most of my skils on filed from labourers, foremen, supervisors, store managers, etc.
